Your crafting videos are always so inspiring! Love watching you build stuff from scratch and modify existing items. Also, incredible jumpscare at 13:19. Dunno why that buzzer sound got me so good, but I nearly leapt out of my skin. And what a fun opportunity, my wife and I have been to Ren Faires many times, and the performers and character actors are our favorite part.

There's three things I've learned working with cardboard. First! Make a bunch of layers and carve and cut it down. A broom handle with like, five to ten layers of cardboard glued and clamped to either side makes a decent weapon base, and then you can carve and shape it down from there. Second! Prime it! Cardboard drinks paint. My wife and I made a cardboard pirate ship for my niece once for a Ren Faire and it took sooooo many layers of paint to get it to look uniformish, and the wavy cardboard look never went away. Next project I primed it first and it took only two layers of primer and two of paint for it to look passable. Third! Don't! The above steps are a crazy amount of work to make something that just won't look as good or be as durable as it would if made with like, EVA or craft foam. I've tried so many ways to reuse all the cardboard that comes in with the stuff I order online and there's just nothing that it's really good for, and everything it CAN do, something else can do better. Cosplay turned out great though! And I love the little wings.
@whoismegburns8 ай бұрын
oh my god thank you for the advice! i will admit ive been too reliant on cardboard for crafts in the past and every tip and trick ive used has backfired in one way or another--maybe this is a sign to invest in more foam LOL
@magganonfatalis7338 ай бұрын
@@whoismegburns I wanted cardboard to work for crafts so bad! I had an embarrassing amount of boxes broken down and saved up for various crafts, but it just does not work unless you put in SO much more time and effort than you would have to for a different material. Good luck on your future projects!
