People leave their hometown and country, for pursuing higher education or best career. They leave their Families behind. Friends too! As visiting students abroad, they might be members of a large community,(from the same country which in other words are friends! This is a highly supportive fact, which makes it easier for a students academic life as well as climbing the rungs of the career ladder! A researchers place has no borders. Any of their country fellow, working in an international place, occupies a position of strong influence for them. This is understandable.

Really nice interview. I laughed when you asked Christian if he uses mac or pc. I tried for years to convince him the merits of macs, to no effect.

Incredible video, and interview. This was one of the best scientific interviews I've seen in a long time, because it was supposed to be personal but went to the great questions naturally! Betzig is a great personality, creator and hearing his life trajectory is very inspiring

Veryt many thanks for the kind words James. I hope you like some of the others as well. Eric is a true leader in our world, and yet his track was not straight forward. He is super easy to chat with.

Would it be possible for Zeiss to provide Peter with a better microphone? ;) The acoustics are so different from Mr. Stelzer's! It'd be much more pleasurable to listen to the podcast.

Hi Christian! We've made sure that Peter has a good quality microphone but unfortunately the hub connection on his laptop failed during this recording and we had to switch to a backup. We hope this didn't spoil the episode for you and we'll be back to Peter's regular mic for the next episode! All the best from The Microscopists Team!

Hi Christian, hopefully you have tried another and checked the sound quality matches up and that you have enjoyed them. It was unfortunate that my docking station stoppped working just after the start, and I lost my Blue Snowball. I will have it plugged directly in to the Surface next time to minimise that risk! Really sorry that it affected this one.

Hi, I sat in on this and it was my first experience with yourself and this podcast. I enjoyed myself, your format is interesting and asks the questions in which if we, the public, were able to meet these inspiring individuals would ask. I'm going to look into some more of you podcasts for sure. Keep it up
