I think I understand how to dilute out out . What worries is that while I know that this 10% is permethrin but I do not know what that other 90% is. Does anyone know what that other 90% is ? Vegetable Oil? ETOH? Benzine?
@Bluehathiker3 ай бұрын
I assume it’s water or some inert liquid. It’s like dextrose, it’s just a way to distribute a highly concentrated compound. I’m sure that’s fairly easy able to find out, it’s just irrelevant to me. I’m not a chemist but I have friends that are, I’m just a backpacker that doesn’t get ticks.

What's the condensation like in the rain, with all the contact between the mesh and yourself?
@Bluehathiker4 ай бұрын
I’ve never had any issue with condensation most likely because of all the air flow under the tarp.

This is a great backpacking loop. I did this with a friend in early October this year. Rugged terrain. Lots of elevation change - believe it or not about 4,000 feet total over the 24 mile loop. A very hilly area located on the Ohio River in southern Indiana. My favorite trail in Indiana.
@Bluehathiker Жыл бұрын
My favorite as well. I’ve done it quite a few times. I even did it one way then turned around and went back! Thanks for watching and commenting!

How long is that near-vertical climb on South Kinsman? It looks scary. Is that in your “top 5” most difficult places on the AT? I see videos of Wildcat too. Another vertical climb. You have a great positive attitude. 😊

Thanks! I don’t remember, the whites have a lot of steep ups and downs. I don’t know about too 5 but it’s definitely up there. The Whites are chocked full of those kinda climbs!

Have you tried hammocks?
@Bluehathiker Жыл бұрын
I have tried hammocks, I sleep on my side mostly and find sleeping on a good pad works best for me. I also find my spacious tent to be lighter than most hammock setups.

I began following and subscribed after the game ended, but I hope to catch up. I constantly flip ahead and read the ending of every book I have read, so knowing how it ends is no bother. Were the trails in Georgia more challenging than the Smokies?
@Bluehathiker Жыл бұрын
The Whites were the most challenging. Georgia is tough because it’s the beginning, the Smokies are tough because of the shelters. Basically it’s all tough and never gets easy. Still a great time though!

Worst thing for me when I'm hiking is ticks. A net that cant protect me from ticks aswell as mosquitos isnt for me. Wish it hat an option to attach it to a ground sheet. Maybe a magnet strip or whatever.

It was fun to watch your adventure! Those conditions on the Trail were beyond anything that has occurred in the past. You pushed and accomplished all that you could within the constraints of off trail life. I started an End to End of the Long Trail and was forced to halt it. We have a responsibility to protect the trail and ourselves. I was fortunate enough to shift the hike to the AT and help my Trail Brother complete the last 188 miles and Summit Katahdin August 3rd. Maine is the toughest state even when conditions are great! Yet, it also can be the most beautiful experience of all. When the time is right and the trail is ready, I am sure you will return! Good luck with all that you are dealing with. Give yourself Grace and as I always say, Keep the Faith and Keep HikN^!

Enjoyed your adventure. Interesting turn of events. Similar event happened to me on my trek at the same point in my hike. Hard to explain how that “emotional “ burden grabs you and won’t let go . I came back to finish the next year and I wish you the energy to do the same. It’ll be worth it!! Best of luck to you….I look forward to your video of you on top of “ The Mountain “ 👍👣👣👣

Less of an emotional burden, I had to deal with moving and a divorce. Tying up loose ends and moving my physical property and other logistics was too much to deal with on trail.

Fun fact: The brownish color of the falls is caused by the resin in the roots of the cedar trees in the marshlands where the headwaters of the river form. (Edit) This is why the nickname "root beer falls" is often used.

Followed your trip and really enjoyed the way you captured the trail and the experience. What an adventure! I hope that you are feeling more yourself. If not, you might want to get tested for tick borne diseases. Docs here in Indiana don't often think of that as possible cause of problems.

You are absolutely NOT a disappointment to anyone on here! We appreciate your sharing your journey with us, with its ups and downs. Life is nothing if not ever changing! I know it hurt to make that decision to get off trail (at least for now), but you have to do what is best for you and yours. I look forward to whatever is next, but I'll miss waking up to a new video! :) Take care of yourself, get well, take care of whatever needs taking care of, and we'll catch you next time!

I can’t thank you enough for all your support. I looked forward to your comments!

First, YOU are not a disappointment, so please don't think that. Whatever is happening back home needs your attention. You're doing the right thing. The trail will always be there. So once it's taken care of come.back. 267 miles is doable. You can even do SOBO if time permits or next year. Be proud of all you have accomplished, not haven't gotten to yet. I'm so proud of you and all you have done. Hopefully, you'll get a Lymes test and rest, and you'll be feeling better without the stress of the trail and deadlines. Just thinking about home, life, trail, and logistics is enough to make anyone sick. You have been amazing, and your videos are awesome. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the content and work it took to take us along. Fantastic journey 👏👏👏🎉🎊🥳 looking forward to what you have in the future. God Bless you and what lies ahead for you. 😊

I have a big change coming in my life and will start another adventure soon. My focus is on the next chapter of my life. I will be sharing my upcoming changes soon, in due time. I hope you will join me in this next phase! Know that it may be an even bigger challenge than the AT! But I’m ready for it! In fact, I can hardly wait!! Thanks again for you incredibly kind words. ❤️

Have been with you since you before you started this adventure. You did a great job, mental health is the most important thing that you can do for yourself. You made the right choice in stopping where you were, you could see the change on your face when you made your decision. A face at peace. I have no doubt that you will return and finish the AT. Good luck with your next chapter in life, a lot of times, I feel, change happens for a reason. We may not understand it at the time but it will all work out.
