I've watched my boyfriend who has autism be abused socially for being different for four years now. Add to that daily, his past and it's easy to see why he looks at himself as if he's a mess or broken. I am sorta NT (bipolar but not autistic) and I try so hard to understand what he needs. I'm hoping to find some coping techniques tha work for him because his counselor keep giving him useless crap that works with NTs which are actually counterproductive for him. And NTs don't resent autistics, most are just too lazy to think past their own perception and tend to be quicker to be cruel over dumb crap. It's mostly laziness.

I wasn't planing to comment your videos today again, because I don't want to be annoying commenting every single video you make, but this video is so so so good! I find part of what you say in this video a bit hard to listen to, but I love every single thing you say on it , church part included. Internet is full of haters, but your videos are the stuff of a decent guy, thanks for your honesty speaking about all this.

I dont believe that hard work brings success 100% of times based in my own experience in some aspects of my life, but I agree there is not success without hard work. Thanks for sharing Jack! Very good the comment about people believing to deserve success just for the fact of being alive. The none sense of changing the world without changing yourself is brilliant!!!

I love you watching! Hard work will always bring the inevitable feelings of a sense of accomplishment....not always success... I once built a dining table, spent about $1500 in materials and it was gorgeous....and then I ruined it all and had to throw it away. What hard work teaches us, is that we're learning. There's always more to learn...in any category...and most of all on ourselves. Work hard, have faith in yourself in doing better! Love yourself and spread happiness to those that you hold dear in your life.

I am always amazed watching Aspies on KZbin how similar our stories and concerns are. Your videos I like because your palms look like mine when I was your crisp young age a working man. My savior is music/movement/breathing (same energy) dance taichi MA you name it then meditate while doing daily. These coping skills are more than important Jack, they are like chains on very icy roads, difficult to install but there to save your ass from tumbling off the mountain into a cold river valley. Chronic stress will kill ya slowly but oh so surely also. Removing anxiety and detoxing yourself is the great healer ~~

SBS man could not have said it better! And that's what I try to share is that we can progress, we can flourish! By learning some skills we can enhance our lives and provide ourselves with protection from that icy slope. Beautifully said. Hit me up in instagram, Facebook and messenger so we can chat more! And I take a lot of pride in my hands.

Exactly learning new skills Jack, the essence of the trades, how we improve our crafts. With over 7 decades living with not so mild autism has taught me the treasure In finding someone willing to share and be kind. I once heard it said that the definition of a saint is someone that can control others but chooses not to. I would expand that definition to someone who has been beat to a pulp by a life time from social bullies, then devotes their life to helping these very same folk. I have seen most the autistics blogs, so informative to see others like myself, I especially like yours and Autistic Werewolf, masculine older men wagon wheels on that dusty trail, seen all that bull shit!! As for myself only pity will suffice, but have like most suffered a lifetime of misunderstandings, social anxiety, seclusion, voices, sensory havoc, betrayals and set ups, being used and confused and still I put a smile my face be kind to everyone, share. Alas knowledge has been cheapened by google and like anything else, wisdom is appreciated more when you have to work hard achieving ~~~ William Blake wrote, "wisdom is sold in the market place where there are few buyers" ~~~

Oh! So well said. I love it! I've never been called a wagon wheel before but I'll take it. As I increase in years....I've grown more aware of others...younger than me...that seem a bit lost....and I really wanted to reach out and help maybe "shed some light on the path" that we all travel, maybe in different circumstances but the abuse and loneliness we all share together, bring us together and bind us together.....we're not alone...and this interwebs thing has really shrunk the world and helped us find each other. Love your comments SBS man, keep em coming! If you've got some suggestions for other vids or some of your wisdom to impart, please share.

Indeed wagon wheels autistics were more useful to society during those by gone days long long past ~~ warriors and tradesmen were we breed Homosapiensautistia!! I am also a wagon wheel functional, symmetrical, stolid, erect handmade covered in life up to my neck. Victimhood has infected our culture, the need to be a victim the most abused victim. Life is tough for everyone and more so for autistics living in these times, everyone just needs to reach out and help each other REGARDLESS good god that was the basic message of Christ. Anyway Jack, thanks for letting me park and share on your informative well made blog. Patients pays off. If you don't mind I will add a recent Ted Talk post on stimming, thought your listeners might like, thanks again sir ~~~~~ Of course stimming is very cool, a normal human trait but much more beneficial if under conscious control and not a run away unconscious meaningless movements. Examples of repeated movement arts ~~> dance, martial art forms, tai chi, talking with the hands, waving hi to someone, acupressure, massage, tapping your foot to music, construction, all trades. The addition is simply consciousness and controlling the stimming indeed making STIMMING AN ART FORM your personal art form a tool to center yourself. Dossing is the art of finding water with crossed handheld rods, but few know it as the art of finding anything! ~~> underground pipes, dead body, your lost keys whatever can be located with dossing rods BUT the dosser must concentrate and direct his consciousness INTENTLY on what needs finding like water/knowledge. A master dosser teaches his new students this on first day. Autistics must learn this also, enabling us ASD folk to steer the stimming not let stemming do the steering :))

Hey Jack, thanks so much for your videos, they are full of wisdom. I feel surprised about your comment of saying that you are never going to be normal. I have 2 friends with Asperger, and I think they are normal people. I agree they have very different and genuine personalities, but I don't find that abnomal . I'm not trying to be kind or condescending saying that, but very honest about how I fell about them and their friendship. Anyway, thanks so much for your videos, I feel a lot of identification with the stuff you speak about even when I don't have Asperger.

Thanks Juan! Being normal...is there such a thing? I think all humans deal with all types of mental struggles in many various ways. I started these videos for aspies, but quickly realized the information I was sharing is applicable to all people with a wide variety of struggles. My best friend is "neuro typical" and somehow, he manages to understand me and accept me for who I am. Stay cool!

Good luck with your channel, great words and well put. I have over 7 decades Autistic and have always made my own way growing up independent in the fine trades. I was right at home there, full of strange craftsman willing to spend hours alone doing their art to perfection and a persons oddity was not noticed much as long as the jobs got done!!. If we had a trade school system In this country there would be a home for Autistic folk.

Thank you so much! Always nice to hear! Dark times and places I suppose will always come and go but gaining a better understanding of who you are and why you react the way you do, will always help you fight the battles that present themselves in your life. Remember, these trials we face are designed to teach us to be better than we used to be. So many people get struck in ruts, with negative thinking and bad life skills, that they stop making progress and moving forward.....and that's what we all want....to be happy, which is so difficult for us aspies. Thank you Selina for your sweet words. Follow me on IG, Jack Maverick, so we can stay connected and be friends!

Great video, and I feel you could really be a role model for so many people with Asperger's. I especially liked your suggestion to say "I don't have any response to that" if someone is passive-aggressive towards you. It's such an honest and disarming reply, and much better than saying nothing or just smiling, which could frustrate or anger the other person as they are waiting for a reply. Also, great job speaking coherently while fighting off all those bugs :)

I was feeling guilty. I answered another comment on this video, and I only gave you a heart. I went back through the plethora of comments I've received and I answered every one of them. So, I'm sorry. I got my 3 year old (a few years ago) diagnosed at it about split my heart in half. At that time, I still didn't draw a correlation between him and myself. Watching him through his life made me realize that I was on the spectrum as well. My little heart strings get yanked on when I see him struggle to this day. I have 6 kids though, 3 on the spectrum, and my wife and I are a hard corps dynamic duo in wrangling all our kids and we made it a point a long time ago not to treat any of them differently. For your sweet son, let him learn, learn to fight for himself. Don't rescue him from hardships and difficulties because those are the trials that will teach him to grow and be strong and be a happy and healthy adult. Be his support and his greatest cheerleader, his comfort when he's down and his discipline when he's a rascal. Most of all, be sure that with all your kids and your husband too, that you do everything based in love. That magical ingredient that makes this life so beautiful ad sweet. I wish you and your family all the blessings and happiness that comes from a family centered in love and acceptance. Thanks for watching!
