Sounds like an AI machine reading this book, almost unlistenable.

Courage, honor, loyalty and love. Some of the greatest virtues a man can have, turned into some of the worst character flaws by indoctrination and manipulation.

Didn't know Mishima was a homosexual, kinda makes this a little relatable cause I discovered my own homosexuality by looking at old statues of men. Absolutely insane that this is the same dude who tried to stage a far right coup against the Japanese government. So far really enjoying this, this is my first dive into Mishimas works and I thank you for posting these. Although the robotic voice is a little wonky I got used to it.

Just this year (2024) the AI voice technology has upgraded so well its hard to tell the difference with the best of the present AI voices. But , this recording was made using the old outdated junk versions that would leave even HAL9000's metallic ears fully disgusted. Please redo and reupload 🙏 Then do everyone a favor and trash this worthless ear ache.

How could this Japanese man capture so completely the English attitude? Genius. However I see many similarities between the English and Japanese ideas of dignity. This reminded me of how similar the two cultures are in terms of restraint, service, and commitment to excellence.

Do not forget that Kazuo Ishiguro despite being born in Japan, was raised in England. He is considered an English writer btw.
