Very good video I like how you did everything. A bit of advice I know it’s hard to show people how to pull it off while you’re doing it. Especially by yourself but maybe just show people how you put the tools up there to break these parts loose

I had a bear of a time separating the outer axle from the intermediate axle. I spent a good 30 minutes hitting it with a 5lb sledge but had no luck. I decided to remove the intermediate shaft fro the PTU and try separating them on my bench with a vice. I spent another 30 minutes with th 5lb sledge and 30 minutes with an air hammer - still no luck. At this point, i took the boot off the outer axle and disassembled it so only the cup part of the outer axle was still attached to the intermediate axle. I then took it tomy 12 ton press and tried pushing it apart. I was able to get a mm of movement and realized i wasn't directly pushing on the intermediate axle but some sort of sealing plug. Fortunately it was enough movement thati could finish it off back at the vice with a hammer.

Helpful video. I didn't have to remove tie rod. Took me maybe 45 min.

Was there a specific reason for replacing the knuckle? Looks good 👍 Really liked the video

Where did you pry from? I'm getting no where prying and I'm beating on the back end with a hammer and bar. No go.

I just want everyone to know that I was able to replace the cv shaft on my 2010 Mariner without removing the caliper and rotor. I believe Falcon Repair intended to replace those anyway which is why they removed them. I did not have to take the tie rod loose and a 1 1/4 socket actually fit better then the 32mm I bought to do the job. I did have to remove the strut bolts as they recommended. The wheel sensor did not want to come completely out but it came out far enough to be out of the way so I didnt bother to pop it out completely. This is an excellent video and would highly recommend watching it before replacing yours. Thanks Falcon Repair!

Hi, Thank you for your informative video. It helped me replace my CV Axle on my 2005 Escape. I did notice after I replaced it, that my 'O/D OFF' light, began blinking. It begins this after the first gear change. Blinks even if I engage it before driving off, or disengage it before driving off. Only stops blinking when I start it and before I begin moving. Its a FWD Automatic. I am wondering if I did something wrong, or if there is a quick fix? Or is this completely unrelated? Could teh speed sensor been damaged? or got dirt on it somewhere? Initially my CV Axle broke when my subframe broke apart. I replaced the subframe and then replaced the CV axle. Any suggests would be appreciated. Taras From Toronto Canada.

If I saw anyone sticking magnetic trays to my car I would kill him.

I have more rust on my caliper than that car has, why would a CV shaft need replacing? The part I/we need to see is how much work it is to remove and reinstall on the intermediate shaft. As in just how long it took to R&R the shaft once other parts were out of the way. After an hour with a pinch bar and a 4 pound hammer it was too dark and too old to continue I quit for the night. I'm giving a thumbs up as you at least showed the pinch bar and the hammer. A thumbs down to not showing what it really took.for the job. It must be nice working in a building on non rusty cars instead out in the snow.
