do you need an illinois licence to launch on the other side of shirland ave? just today i thought about eventually doing it but the issue i see is now they have placed these huge stone rocks/blocks in a square shape limiting access to any parking after you launch, my guess is the new ball field across the street and they don't want people parking everywhere?
@itbmuskieАй бұрын
Illinois SUCKS for all things recreation. I grew up there and when I moved to Wisconsin it was mind boggling how much more efficient the state was. To answer your question, no you do not need an illinois license to use the launch or park there. The grass to the right of the launch is where most trailers park. The river is really shallow and rocky in that area so just be careful.
@diggindiggenit6540Ай бұрын
@@itbmuskie next time you drive by there check out those huge blocks they put around there seems now hardly no room to even launch or i should say yes maybe launch but park?

Any advice for first time Madison area musky fishing?where,and when water temperature will be cool enough to start fishing for them again?I fish pewaukee mostly, been tough so far.stopped fishing while water is so warm, looking forward to fall,it was good last year.
@itbmuskie2 жыл бұрын
Yeah absolutely! I am no expert but I would imagine it's probably getting close to being good? It's hard to say. I only make it up every couple of weeks and when it gets hot, I stick around home and fish catfish and smallmouth. My biggest tip on Madison is to just keep chucking. They're there. White, purple, chartreuse. I have no luck with them anywhere but I hear good things about flaptails too.

There are muskies at every dam on the rock! Lots of the stocked Kosh and Mad Chain fish make there way down. I have wanted to shoot a video on the rock but it is so hard to fish there when there are better numbers on so many lakes! Fellow teacher here, keep up the good work!

I have a 17 foot boat with 50hp can I get up the river or how deep is it
@itbmuskie2 жыл бұрын
You can try! Depending on river level. I left a clip out of my depth finder on the way up. It is not uncommon to go through 1.2-1.5 feet deep. I usually nick bottom a few times.

Sharing locations constantly just brings more unnecessary pressure to bodies of water already to crowded. Just food for thought
@itbmuskie4 жыл бұрын
I understand the thought, but they still have to go there and catch fish. Also, I am more interested in growing the sport, which in turn hopefully gets more people involved with clubs and things like stocking programs, which is great for these bodies of water that have no natural reproduction. Tight lines!

If you dont like casting husky medussas start your day by casting a 2lb dawgs or monster medussas for 1-2h. The husky will feel much lighter after that ;P
