The first 2-3 seasons were great, but I agree, et kinda snowballed downhill as it got more and more messy and unhinged. Think the entire Billith plotline should either have been the last season or not at all, it escalated so fast and then deflated like a flan in a cupboard in the season after.

Hey you guys I just became a new subscriber! I really enjoyed your podcast and I love how calmly you guys spoke about the show without any crazy Antics and screaming. It was just a conversation between two friends. And I felt like I was having the conversation with my friends even though I was just listening to you too! Can't wait until season 3! This show is so underrated and they deserved some emmys! Hopefully they're on the radar next year for the Emmys

Also, just as Lestat's "bones to dust" comment foreshadowed things for Claudia, Louis telling Molloy that after his first meeting with Lestat, he wanted to "slit his throat" with his cane-blade was another great one! I also want to shout out the absolute top tier soundtracks that accompany both seasons, because Daniel Hart's commitment to character details and the way his emotional music enhances every scene, is flawless - and I can't wait to see what he does for S3's rockstar tour! I don't want this Daniel to be a vampire either because I love him. His tragic storyline in the books, the way Armand treats Daniel -- his first fledgling in 500+ years of existence -- even before finally turning him at around age 30, is pretty shitty. On the other hand, the show has aged him up into such a hilarious, badass geezer that Vampire Daniel Molloy will be appointment viewing for this Dan Fan! And the Brat Prince needs a spanking for choking him like that in the S3 teaser. Just say you hated the book, Lestat! Enjoyed your conversation very much, and can't wait to hear what you think of Book 2: The Vampire Lestat (of course I wish they'd skip to book 6: The Vampire Armand because...Daniel haha!).

The bits Armand told Daniel in San Francisco like "I've been watching you for a while now" or something and others things...i think he hooked louis up with Daniel! Him and louis set all this up for Armand to get back w/Daniel....that finale shove into the wall was performative affff😂 they missed they "boy"🤗😢 the levels of WRITING in this show is top tier and EVERYTHING television has been missing❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

In San Francisco, Armand didn't say "I've been watching you..." to Daniel, he said, "I've been calling to you for some time now." Big difference. At that moment he was Death on stage convincing a victim he actually wants to die. He's the Death that has been waiting around every corner of a junkie's dangerous existence. What did Louis say earlier in Dubai when Armand first went off to chase his food -- that the old vampire chooses victims "half in love with an easeful death"? Well, he saw that in young Daniel, and told him so when Daniel said, "I don't wanna die".

I think that lestat's biggest regret is realizing she LITERALLY wouldve been his greatest achievement &honors her by continuing HER journey...Louis &Lestat did they BIG ones behind Claudia and the NERVE of these vampires to take her away, their Rage following😭❤️the NY best selling book and world tour...goes back to her last diary entry, F*ck These Vampires😅😂💯

One of the reasons it is forbidden to make children, sick or mentally disabled because they are uncontrollable, unpredictable, and have voracious appetites. Louis turns Madeleine. Claudia is too young to make a vampire. She only feeds on Madeleine while Louis makes her. The coven is already aware of the presence of Louis and Claudia when the two arrive in Paris. They also planned for Claudia's demise. They were bidding their time. Lestat is still recovering from the attempt on his life. He was summoned back to Paris for the trial. This is why he breaks from the script during the trial. The coven installs a lens from the Paris observatory and places it in the skylight. In the Anne Rice books, Armand does make Daniel. Lestat is choking Daniel because he does not like the accounts in the book. The song "Longface" is about Louis.

Thanks for the comment! You’ve definitely brought up some great points here. Totally agree about why it’s forbidden to turn children or those who are sick or mentally disabled-they’re unpredictable and hard to control, which makes Claudia’s story even more heartbreaking. The show really nails that, especially with how she struggles against her eternal childhood. And Madeleine’s situation is just so tragic too. You can see how desperate Claudia and Louis are to create some kind of family, even though it’s bound to end in tragedy. The Paris coven being aware of Louis and Claudia before they even show up definitely adds to the sense of doom around them. And Lestat breaking from the script during the trial-it’s so him, right? (Such a “Hurricane”) He’s still recovering, but he just can’t resist being dramatic and unpredictable. And yeah, the differences between the books and the show are interesting. They’re making their own version while keeping a lot of the original vibes. Plus, Lestat being mad about Daniel’s book is just peak Lestat-he loves the attention but hates being portrayed in a way he doesn’t like. You can really see that level of skill and stage presence in their performances. I like how season 2 ends eric the actor who plays Daniel always wanted to play a vampire so he got his wish as for Louis i love he much he's embraced who he is and finally at peace production starts next month on season 3 so the show might air in 2026 to me i think lestat is the cause for Daniel in the season 3 teaser because he's not happy about the book depicting him as a villain Question are you planning on talking the mayfair witches series it's set in the same universe as interview with the vampire

As one of the book readers/lovers of Anne Rice, i can say; Sam Reid IS Lestat. Finally we have the Lestat from the books on screen. Sam is amazing. But one thing, you forget, is; that Daniel says in this tv show, he selling 5miilion copies in 4 months. So 4 months!!! We don't know, when Armand turned him into a vampire!

I think the turning of Daniel is hard to appreciate if you haven’t read the books and don’t know what’s to come. I think it was a bit of a bone being thrown to book fans. An assurance that we’re going to get some specific beats we’ve been chomping at the bit for. Loved your discussion. The turning of Daniel also forces a reevaluation of the first two seasons, as we realise that all the major players are either vampires or human with past experience with vampires who is soon to become a vampire. Unlike most (all?) other popular vampire fiction, there isn’t a human protagonist to humanise or explain vampires to the audience-the vampires are allowed to portray their own brand of humanity without someone constantly judging them or interjecting with human morality. We get to become fully embedded in vampire society, and set aside external judgement while watching them in their vampire universe with all its beauty and bloodthirstiness.

I don’t understand why you’re giving reasons to like Tom’s performance, like Aegon done this in past but his performance his great but he is a terrible character & so on... Everyone in this story is terrible-Rhaenys, Rhaenyra, Aemond, Daemon, and Alicent; all of them have killed numerous people, committed mass murder, kill and celebrated the deaths of babies and many stuff... If everyone is terrible, it seems hypocritical to give reasons to like Aegon’s performance & for others not... For example u don't give explaination for liking eve performance even though she is a mass murderer... It's Martin's world, where everyone is flawed & terrible... Don’t take it as an attack-just observe this and therefore i mention....

Penelope is such a complex character, she is flawed, and also taking into consideration her age 17-19, and the time period she’s living in makes it so complicated, also the whole Marina thing is a bit complicated, we gotta remember she adores and loves the Bridgertons and is loyal to them, and she tried to make Marina not trick Colin into a loveless marriage of betrayal, and did what she had to do. With Eloise it was the same thing, although she might of been self serving at the same time, but again LW is all she has, and in her mind it might be all she’ll have considering her home relationships, at the end she knows Colin will never see her as more than a dear friend and has to make her way out of this miserable life. As the LW reveal, I’m so stressed about it because regardless some of her actions have been questionable but I try to see the reasoning behind them.
