Why in the world did we change up a traditional classic like the Hallelujah Chorus? What in the world? I'm all for changing it up with certain songs but there's others that should just be left alone. I'm aware Bradley Knight wrote the arrangement - I don't really care... yes, it's pretty good for the most part although, there's several parts that Derric Johnson definitely would have done better. Why we didn't just leave it alone and shorten it like they've done with the new arrangement is beyond me. The funky chords in there don't fit for a song like that. All you really had to do was just shorten it down and rework the arrangement without writing in new chords - no less, where they don't even really fit in the music... some people like to sing along (you'd be surprised how many musical souls are out there in that audience and know their full part to the Hallelujah Chorus and now you've had to go changing it up.). We could have shortened the program some other way without having to mess with the Hallelujah Chorus of all things. (I would have had no issue with it if they had just shortened the arrangement and kept the true chords but trying to re-write it is a no... I'm not super impressed at all. Should be interesting to see what he does to the next Hercules. I still don't see what everyone else sees in him. He plays the piano and arranges just like most any other musical soul who knows how to do that stuff and he's not phenomenal at it - his placement of chords and his choice of chords are often just weird.). So sad to see them do this to the Hallelujah Chorus. Should have just gotten Derric Johnson to re-write it or Jamey Ray... Enough said.
