The old famous American chestnut was almost extinct by the last half of the twentieth century, thanks to a fungus called Endothia parasitica. So they did a breeding program with a Chinese variety and now the U.S. has chestnut hybrids that don't get killed by the fungus. Could be you got hold of a cheap American import that isn't up to the old standards, since it is hard to find samples of something that is practically extinct. Russian beluga sturgeons went nearly extinct in some places 20-30 years ago, so the Russians got imports from the United States with some kind of make believe substitute. Now you'll have to travel Russia sampling caviar, and tell us where it is and is not up to snuff. Since this channel is fit only for fastidious connoisseurs, the humbler the better.

When I was working at a hair salon in US as a new immigrant, I created a list of 10 dumbest questions every new client was asking me so I don't have to repeat the same answers to each and everyone. Now days my new American clients ask me different dumb questions like; what country is Usbekistan in, whether Georgian language is a Russian dialect, why I don't understand Ukrainian if Ukrainians understand Russian, how many feet is one meter sixty, how many hryvnas in a dollar, etc

I think "Moscow is not Russia" is mostly one of the western tropes. Unfortunately, many Russians pick up some stupid things like that from liberal online channels. Also, Kazakhstan is an independent country since 1991. So, whatever they are doing or not doing to their utilities system, is non of Russia's business for over 30 years.

Why can't I get pork swarma/gyros everywhere in Piter? Enough with the chicken already! it's tasty but I need more!
@DrNiradinoКүн бұрын
Because swarma/gyro is a national food from southern regions, which are predominantly Islamic, and they do not cook pork.

In Canada, we spend 450-500 dollars at Costco for one week. We are not rich. We take only what is necessary and according to the list so as not to make unnecessary expenses, but even this does not save. Everything is expensive. It used to be 200-250 dollars.

22:00 You gotta take the email off the website. And instead have an AI Chatbox that links back to a FAQ. This is how Ebay functions. Its impossible for them to field every question. And if you need a person it gives you a phone number. Actually a good way to fund the website. Just get a referral fee from a larger immigration company. For every person you refer via phone call ;)

Russians don't think low of their country, those were the comments from behind Russian South-West border and from the people of merchant creed, who call middle east terrorist state their home.

@@tigersilberhannes9153 in most cases that's what it is. I don't know about "german and polish", but I know about our Russian speaking hemisphere. And Russians see right through them. They usually write same stupid nonsense that clearly show they have never actually been to Russia. It's the same people that wrote about shovels, washing machines, butter stuff and that "Moscow is not Russia" and all those nonsense :) We just laugh at them and don't pay attention at this point. It's like this angry miniature dog that attacks every stranger with their annoying unnecessary barking without any reason any chance it gets

So here's the logic behind the question "why did you move to Russia?" from Russians: the US has basically banned Russians on the US soil as tourists. It used to be very hard (now it's impossible) to get a tourist visa for a Russian to travel to the US just for fun. You had to go to extreme lengths to prove that you have no intent to stay in the US illegally after the entry. Therefore, you will not find a lot of Russians who travelled to the US and saw it with their own eyes. Thus, the majority of Russians have an image of the US formed by Hollywood movies - wealthy, beautiful, care-free country with rich smiling happy people with no problems whatsoever. And when those Russians see you in Russia, it's a big surprise to them that you wanted to give up all that goodness for Russia (with problems, imperfections, gloomy winters, people that don't smile at strangers, etc). If Russians had more accurate picture of the US in their head, they wouldn't ask this question so often. BUT, sometimes people are just curious about the reasons why you moved (they don't necessarily see the US as all amazing and Russia as all bad), they just want to know the reasons, pure curiosity.

This stereotype has been supported since the last century (if not earlier), but there are still fools who believe it, even despite the Internet and a ton of information.

6:51 there is an Australian YT-blogger living in the Moscow region. On his channel he showed a quote from an American TV-channel saying that butter in Russian was such a rare thing that they stored it in locked fridges. Then the blogger visited 5 or 6 grocery stores and found out that there was a lot of butter made by many Russian manufacturers. There only were 2 products in locked fridges: red caviar and black caviar. 15:47, 16:14 it is called “passive vocabulary”: a person understands a foreign language rather well, but he/she can hardly speak this language. There are 2 reasons: (1) lack of speaking practice; (1) fear of making a mistake.

Not a question, but a very annoying compliment that I once got was about my English. The guy absolutely refused to believe that I'm Russian even after I told him I'm from Moscow and it's more advanced than the rest of the country. Thought we all can't learn English because it's either forbidden or just no teachers exist here or we're stupid or something like that.
@amare_naturamКүн бұрын
Or maybe Russians just don’t need it? 🤣Why, for example, should I learn Chinese if I never plan to be there or work with Chinese? And those who need to - let them learn Russian THEMSELVES, and not be indignant about WHY Russians don't know English. Who said that we have to know it?
