I recently got my hands on a barn find. I believe it is a 1980 vintage Invader enduro lay down kart complete with KT100 and Slippy pipe. Are you using a Slippy pipe? Thanks
@chrisfoskey6584Ай бұрын
I don’t use a slippy but there are quite a few people that do. The yellow kart has a slippy on it.

BT82 is a good old motor. Surprised it wasn't faster. Looks like lack of nose was holding you back from aero drag?
@chrisfoskey6584 Жыл бұрын
The lack of nose is a huge factor in top speed. But racing vintage we aren't allowed to run with a nose for a large majority of the races.

I raced this class at Riverside in the 80's. I'm 72 now and if we had tracks I'd be back at it. Most fun u can have with yur clothes on ! I notice no one has R/L rear view mirrors anymore ....? I was sore for 2 weeks. It's like laying on a board and gettin dragged over country roads at 100MPH for (back then) 60 minutes.

I was on that day. Some of the karts are slower and some are much faster. I believe the fastest lap I’ve seen in a kart was a 1:12 to 1:13.
@334trax24 жыл бұрын
@@chrisfoskey6584 holy cow, that is faster than cars on track. Not race cars but people that bring their car for track days running 1:24-1:35 etc. Those karts move out. It's the speed in those corners. That is cool.

@@334trax2 It’s a great track. Lots of run off room. I will do a walk around of the karts when I can. To get into lay down karting, you’re looking at around 750-1250 for a chassis. Motor price is really dependent on class as well as clutch and exhaust. There are a few companies that sell turn key karts for around 5k. You can get used for cheaper. Look up the enduro kart page on Facebook. You can flip through there for a while to get a better idea on prices and get to see different karts. We were just there this past weekend and it would have been great if you could have made it to get to see the karts in person.

It is a broken GoPro Hero 7 black. It ejected itself, at 90mph, from the kart at Roebling back in March. That is why there is a couple of blurs on the screen. I didn’t get a chance to buy a new lens cover before this weekend.

That was a little hairy at the end there! Super fast track though. How is the feel of an enduro vs a sprint kart?
@chrisfoskey65846 жыл бұрын
It's different. The enduro feels more natural and less violent. After driving the enduro kart, it's easy to see why some people prefer it over sprint. Both karts take essentially the same tools with the primary difference being for the clutch. Most of the other parts are the same. This weekend of enduro racing took less wrenching than any weekend of sprint racing. To some that's a pro, to others that's a con.
@WOT1226 жыл бұрын
awesome telemetry. which one is it?
@chrisfoskey65846 жыл бұрын
It’s the Hero 6 Black. The GPS data can’t be played back on the camera, but the GoPro computer program “unlocks” it so it can be used as overlays. The only two problems that I have found with it so far, is after a file gets ~3Gb in size, it will save it and make a new file which in itself isn’t the problems but it creates the problems. The Roebling Road race video has an overlay reset around the 15 minute mark due to the first file ending and the second file beginning. What I did not know at the time, was that when a new file is created, even for the same video, it resets the GPS data for the new file. Also, the overlays have to be saved as visible on the video, within the computer program, and then the files can be spliced together, and still show the overlays. With the savage race, I spliced the files together before adding the overlays, and the files were changed enough during the splice that the GoPro program couldn’t access the GPS data after the splice. I’m still new to all of this so I’m sure there’s a program somewhere that can ease those problems, but I just haven’t found it yet. Your videos are awesome too. We need more karts with cameras on them and people that want to post the videos.
@WOT1226 жыл бұрын
I DIDNT KNOW THE GOPRO could do that! very cool. I have the original hero. I might have to upgrade. Thanks for the details. Your right more guys need to video. cameras are pretty easy to acquire now. Next up watching you on Roebling Road!
