Hello! Thank you for this video! Trying to find a day trip to st wolfgangsee and Hallstat from Salzburg and came across your vid. I'm curious about a couple of things. I'm assuming you took the earliest bus from Salzburg. 1) Roughly what time did you guys end up in Hallstat? 2) How much was the taxi out from Hallstat to the train station? Is the bus leaving Hallstat not available in the evening? Thank you in advance!

Sorry to say I dont remember exact timings or the cost for taxi. But we did not start on first bus & this is pefectly doable only using public transport if you plan way ahead according to time schedules. The taxi was just 10 min, 5kms to the station. Alternatively you can take a walk around the lake to the station too :) I will update if my wife remembers the specifics. Have a good trip.

@@Worldtraveller624 Mirabellplatz is like 5 mins from Salzburg HBF, walkable too. Bus 150 stops at both places :)

Nice video, just a comment: the German word for lake is "See" (which is related to the English word "sea") and in German words are combined into a single word, so Wolfgangsee actually is Lake Wolfgang, or Hallstättersee is Lake Hallstatt, so if you say Lake Wolfgangsee it means Lake Wolfgang Lake 😉

Hello Wander Sapiens. Thank you for this wonderful video. We are planning to visit all the places in the video when we visit in December. Your video is very detailed especially the transportation. We will be staying in St Wolfgang for three nights and will do the cog train ride and visit Hallstatt. Can I know...did you buy the cog train ticket in advance or just bought it at the station ?

We bought it at the St. Gilgen ferry station. We can buy the ferry tickets as well as the train tickets all together.
