Gosh. I was there in the latter half of May. The place was completely overgrown. It looked terrible. This looks better.

It is a lovely old cemetery 😀👍
@mithridateseupator34922 күн бұрын
@@garewalksThanks for this. Your video gives a completely different perspective than the one I experienced. The knee high grass in May created a very dilapidated appearance which I put down to poor maitenance and recent vandalism. I have a different opinion now. I think I saw it at the he wrong time.

This process of demolition and sacrilege,as it included the interiors(the sanctuaries and altars )of all the countries catholic churches involved my own church ,st. Augustine's in harehills very early in the 60s ,later st. Patrick's which you mentioned ,much later ..both were beautiful and traditional so they got the treatment called re ordering (,Dr Goebbels couldn't have expressed it better ). The belated resistance to this iconoclasm is underway in America ,France etc. In UK there are more moral cowards and lukewarm pseudo catholics

Thanks for watching, it is such a shame what happened to these old churches.

Mount saint Mary's was evacuated by the faithless breed of bishops spawned by the Vatican 2 church council between 1962-65 and it's artifacts appropriated by a spiv with the compliance of these clergy

Great video, I've noticed the standard of driving has dropped over the last 5 years, a lot are tailgating even if you are at the speed limits, no signals on roundabouts etc, don't like smart motorways and tend to avoid them, I think a lot of drivers are on drug's

Thanks for the info, I am long overdue a visit to the house and gardens. As you say it would be a great video. It is I think 19 GBP to get in, which is probably what's been stopping me 😂 I will though add it to my list of places to visit. 👍

Obrigado!
@garewalks14 күн бұрын

Sorry to say but I'm not entirely sure those are Cedar of Lebanon. I think those might be Atlas Cedars.
@garewalks22 күн бұрын
Thanks for your comment, they are very similar trees. This still has the conical top and not the Cedar of Lebanon flat top probably because they are fairly young trees. I think around 100 years old. I will check the date they were planted next time I am at the park as there is a plaque with the date on. This also says they a Cedar of Lebanon but I will give them a closer look with my tree book just to make sure. 👍

Right at the point that you mentioned the nature reserve on the Lower Wortley ringroad is where I headbutted an owl at 30mph on my motorbike in the middle of the day back in 1985. Thank god I had the visor down on my full face helmet as it was quite a bash with feathers flying everywhere. The owl carried on with it's journey non-plussed. I guess we both wondered what the hell had just happened lol.

This was my first visit to Sherwood Forest and I had a very enjoyable visit. Unfortunately for some reason that I haven't yet figured out the video stabilisation feature on my phone had switched itself off. This seems to have left the video somewhat shaky. I realise this does affect the viewing experience. I did though want to keep a record of my first visit to this lovely woodland so have still included it in the channel.

I didn't know that, it certainly is a big park. There is so much more woodland I didn't explore and some huge sports fields. I remember the Rolling Stones and Madonna playing there in the 80's. 👍

need to exlpin about soil etrx
@garewalksАй бұрын
Hi, I didn't use any specific soil it was a shop bought one that I had to do seeds and cuttings but any general purpose compost would be OK. I added some vermiculite which I again had in. This helps with drainage. You could add some horticultural grit for this purpose but it's not really necessary, just compost would be fine. 👍
