Hi! I completely agree that I do not understand how this film is being labeled as a feminist tale. However, after watching I actually felt it was a bit offensive and honestly anti-feminist?? Many women I see reviewing online argue that this film depicts the feminine experience well, and while I think Lily Rose-Depp's performace was amazing, I honestly felt the story was overwhelming focused on her having sex and being sexualized? Which I personally do not find relatable or empowering... not that women's empowerment was the goal of the film. But with the reviews claiming it to be feminist I just feel it is fair to point out. As well, near the end, I found the the relationship between Ellen and the Count somewhat coercive and nonconsenual? Also, I know this is basic, but I also don't recall many, if any, conversation between the (ONLY) 2 women characters that was about anything other than their husbands? Peple are also pointing the scene where Ellen cries she's "dirty" after her sexual relations with the Count.. and her husband is like "no I still love you" ... and I just feel that the last thing I need is for a man to comfort me when I feel dirty because of the sexism and oppression I expierence for being horny or enaging in sex with men? Like how is that empowering? Maybe if she decided on her own accord that she wasn't "dirty" or lesser because she fucks???... Idk. Overall I just really don't understand why people are calling this relatable or feminist? The last thing I care to see is another movie about a bunch of white guys in old-timey England with a lack of women characters who are often just moaning and naked? I guess people are arguing it depicts the sexual liberation of women who expierenced a lot of shame during that time? But again, my concern when it comes to women's issues and expierences is not focused on sex with men. Idk, after watching this I honestly found it kind of offensive?? Sorry this is so all over the place.. Someone please help me understand, am I missing something?????

To elaborate quickly, when I say "my concern when it comes to women's issues and expierences is not focused on sex with men" I do not mean I am unconcerned with women being sexually exploited by men. I am moreso pointing out that I have no interest in having sex with men when they so clearly are socialized to hate women. Meaning I do not find a movie concerned with women being able to have sex with men very inspiring. Hopefully this makes sense?

Sandy didn't just try to kill Ellie, she tried to kill Ellie's boyfriend & successfully kill many innocent men. The fact that you ignored Ellie's boyfriend shows you have no empathy for male victims. The confusion comes from Ellie experiencing Sandy's past life. It is Ellie that takes issue with choices that Sandy made. Sandy made decisions that allowed her to controlled Ellie both in the flashbacks & the present. Sandy also controlled & manipulated the male victims in her past to fill her house.

There is an ENTIRE sequence of her drugging Ellie and then trying to stab her multiple times on the stairs...what was she trying to do if she wasn't trying to Kill Ellie? Also We specifically say in the beginning that we were focusing on the women in the movie though men can totally also be victims. The only male victim that was truly innocent was Ellie's boyfriend. I will not call Sandie's bf who forced her into prostitution an innocent victim and I wouldn't call the men who contributed to her victimization innocent either.. Yes Ellie takes issue BUT understands why she made them. We are discussing the audience conversation, not whether or not Ellie takes issue with it. Doesn't seem like you completely understood what we were discussing. Not to mention you might want to re-watch the movie as well since you seem not to remember a couple key plot points we mentioned in the video and I mentioned in this comment. Thanks for engaging though! - C

There will definitely be a third film, but that needs to be the last one and hopefully the entity is defeated. I don't think this series needs to be milked out with a 4th and 5th film.

@@randomramblings9564 I do, actually 👇 Smile 3 begins with scenes of fans screaming and trying to get away from the stage where Skye has just 'killed' herself. It's total chaos as one would expect in a situation such as this. After about a minute of this, the camera pans to Sky with the microphone in her eye. And all of the sudden, her working eye (lol) shifts toward the camera and she cracks the infamous 'smile' and then, in turns out that as with most events in the backhalf of the film, Skye's suicide was one giant hallucination, and the next scene shows her waking up from a nightmare in her dressing room the eve of the first show of the tour. She is still alive and now has 24 hours to rid herself of the entity. With such a short time frame, she goes and does the heart-stopping experiment with Morris, and it works as she no longer is haunted by the entity upon waking up and going several days without any visions/hallucinations. But then, four days later, she gets a phone call out of the blue from Morris, and he says something along the lines of, "I don't have much time left." which indicates that even though he successfully removed the entity from Skye, he ended up inheriting it from her, and it's been tormenting him and the film then becomes a race against the clock to save Morris from death. Together, Morris & Skye and others successfully devise a plan to kill the entity for good and it works as they spend hours luring it in and killinf it (not sure how all that would come about but I'm open to suggestions lol). I also think I'd include that Morris goes on the tour with Skye so that she can spend her downtime off stage helping him and successfully enacting their plan. The film ends with a bit of comedic relief, with Skye hanging out in her apartment with Gemma after the tour is finished. Gemma is at the sink filling up a glass of water when she turns around and sees Skye at her piano with her back turned to her (prior to filling up the water, we'll say Skye was on the couch in her living room). Gemma, somewhat nervous, calls put to Skye, who turns around with the smile, but then she says, "Just kidding." Film ends with them laughing it off and a bunch of her friends, dancers, and family coming over to celebrate a successful tour! Happy ending because WE DO NOT need a Smile 4, 5, and 6. I sincerely hope Parker does NOT decide to make this a scream redux 💀

@@JdDiehl woahh that's a super cool plot omg. i had a similar but also extremely different idea lol my idea is that it does open with the chaos of the concert and people screaming and running away. we see a young girl run into a black suv and drive home and sees the infamous smile of skye riley. there can be like a minor car crash or something and she survives. it's revealed that shes the daughter of the president and ends up giving the curse to him after 4-5 days. the film follows the president and we get like a political drama/commentary with a mix of horror. the film can end in two ways ! 1. he defeats the curse with the help of morris and others and stop it from killing anyone else 2. he thinks he defeated it and it possesses him while he's giving a national speech in washington dc (kinda copying smile 2 endings) the ending shows the demon is undefeatable and there is no stopping now that the whole country has it.
@JdDiehl

@rechaos. I like that idea a lot! Very cool and unique. I'd definitely prefer the President defeat it as this series should end perfectly with three films. But it'd be interesting if Parker wants to cap the series at 4 films and if he does, the President doing it in front of the nation during a speech (like during the State of The Union address), would make sense to set up the 4th & final film.
