The only reasonto bathe a cat is (a) their fur is contaminated with a substance it is harmful for them to ingest (such as paint), (b) they are extremely dirty and cleaning such a large amount off naturally wuld also be harmful (e.g. plastered in mud), (c) unable to clean themselves for whatever reason or (d) a hairless breed like Sphinx where excess oils must be removed. Otherwise, you are simply stressing the cat for no reason and stripping essential oils from their coats and skins. Cats clean themselves, and avoid water for good reasons, and the oils keep their coats and skins healthy.
