So, it’s up to the individual to decide. For me it is. I charge at home 99% of the time, have never run out of charge on the road, spent $29 for an entire 2 years of maintenance and have never filled the car up with gas. I charged my car for free while grocery shopping last weekend. I lease an ev for about $267.00 per month meaning I’m driving a new car with all the latest equipment for a very small price. Again zero cost for gas and about $8 per week to charge on regular house current, 120 volts. Saving the world? I’m saving myself.
@the_old_guardian Жыл бұрын
Fair point. I can't argue saving money. On peripheral issues such as: - What if you need a whole new battery cell, what's the cost of that against the cost of the car? - I've heard it said that you have to drive an EV approx 150K miles/km to be cleaner than an ICE. - I wouldn't blame you if your finances were much more important than the environment to not be worried about what happens with the car after you trade in. - What are your winters like where you live? - You hinted [even if unintentionally] at negligent EV owners, how likely is that if you can stay on top of charging your car that you would run out of a charge even in cold temps [if -20 or colder is something you are familiar with] I appreciate your input, thank you! 👍🏻
@flyboy4911 Жыл бұрын
@@the_old_guardian to be fair. I’m not the typical ev owner. I’ve replaced a batter at my own expense in a 2016 ford fusion energy, a plug in hybrid. I purchased a used battery that cost $1200. I installed it myself and the car has run for the last 8 years with no issues. My son drives this car and we have no intention of selling this car. I now drive a full ev Kia and this is what I described in my first post. I live in pa and the last month have been bitter cold with low temps in the single digits. But with that said you buy the car that fits for you, how you drive and where you live. I suspect there are not a lot of convertible in Alaska. Maybe some but not a lot. Same for electric cars. As for the environment question. It’s very important and I am a caretaker of the earth. I’ve recycled more in my life than an entire liberal art graduating class of a modern university will. These evs will pass out of my hands to the next person like any other car do.

just think if we had devoted the last 120 years to developing EV technology instead of the ICE turd, how far advanced they'd be.

Somehow big oil must have found petroleum to be far more profitable... but then, why not diversify, or just switch all together? Im curious why EV's never really took off.

In Australia household and car insurance for vehicle fires in EVs is about the skyrocket.

Is it due to the EV that insurance looks at the homeowner? if you own an EV they gotcha on other insurances aside from vehicle insurance?

I'm an early riser but I think early birds and night owls have one thing in common - the love for the solitude of the dark AM hours. I got up at 4:35 AM today and I just love the feeling of doing my morning routine, eating breakfast, and just kind of enjoying some stargazing and creative "me" time before work. I might be a rare subtype of early riser as I don't have a lot of ambitions to climb a corporate ladder, I just wanna enjoy the beauty of everything. Despite all its problems, the world we live in really is a beautiful place and just sitting in my kitchen, looking out the window at my yard and the starry sky above (it's clouding over though as snow is on the way), really fills me with a sense of peace. Later in the year, I get to enjoy a sunrise through my kitchen window (and in May, June, and July my bedroom window). The peace and tranquility is amazing. Also working on my artwork at 5 AM, nothing special, just stuff I do for fun, it's amazing! My name's Victoria, it's nice to meet you! As you can tell, I'm also a chatterbox.
@the_old_guardian Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your response. I've always been a night owl, and you are correct it's the solitude, the peace that I enjoy as an introvert. Its a chance for me to just chill out and recharge from "people-ing".
@GraniteStateVictoria Жыл бұрын
@@the_old_guardian The early hours of the morning sure are amazing. I'm an extrovert who loves talking to people but I still love some "me" time and solitude in the mornings. It's fun to let my imagination just do its thing when I'm making artwork or playing an open sandbox type video game like The Sims or Sim City. I do most of my gaming during lunch breaks at work, in evenings after work when I have no other responsibilities (except for Fridays, those are girls nights out with my friends) and during Sunday afternoon after I'm done with all the cleaning and getting everything ready for Monday.

IMO the biggest problem is money. Hospitals cost money to run. In Canada they don't get that money which creates the huge backlogs we see today. The airline industry actually went downhill after government deregulation. This boosted competition and undercutting, which caused there to be more airlines with poorer and poorer service. The problem is almost exactly the opposite with the 2 industries here in Canada. Hospitals need more money and less oversight, airlines need less money (competitively I mean) and more effective oversight. Great video and a good topic of discussion. These thoughts are just my opinion and based on my experience.
