title should be 'how to destroy an alesis pedal' Far easier to take the pedal off your hi-hat stand and attach your alesis pedal to the rod via the alesis height adjuster screw and some 90 angle

The switch isn't the problem, the cam in the locking mechanism tends to ware and prevents micro switch from being fully depressed. The locking mechanism is $1000 from VW but a quick spot weld and to prevent the lock hook from pivoting on the cam will fix the issue.

Why over-engineer it like that? I think you can put the Alesis e-pedal (or any other electronic pedal) just NEXT to the real hi hat pedal and connect two with a sturdy plate, so when you work the real hi hat the electronic one goes up and down with it. Will that not be an easier solution requiring just a small metal (plywood?) plate and several screws? You can de-couple two pedals at any time for upgrades, fixes, etc.

Im thinking about integrating my Alesis into a hihat stand. This is definitely a destructive mod, and doesn't seem like there's any going back. It may be better to somehow attach a linear pot, and have the movement of the hihat control the pot. If I do that, I'll make a video for sure!

i dont know, im a drum noob but for me the alesis pedal is too chunky and it messes with my knees being the same level, causing my back to hurt after only an hour of playing. doing what OP was kind enough to show us is a much better solution albeit a pain in the ass compared to what you mentioned. i guess theres different solutions for different needs

nothing wrong with the alesis pedal, if you're having those issues I'd be more concerned about your seat height

hmm i did a kinda similar process in which i flip the foams and put the white one on top but the sensitivy is soo low,so if i try this how good is the sensitivy? wouldnt have to crank my sensitivity settings up?

dude you are so active xD! great video just right now i am going to try this out but instead of using a piramid foam which i dont have i will put the white one on top,is that ok?
@Ayr0music10 жыл бұрын
hmm..the white foam on top didnt work it was even worse i think it was too much foa,by the way im converting my kick drum i really like the feel of the white foam when i hit the kick :/ if you have any suggestions please turr me :'D
@musiciansnearyou10 жыл бұрын
protv18 The white foam will not work . just cut a small circle of the white foam maybe two or three about the size of a Quarter and glue them together and then glue that to the Piezo and make sure the foam is a little higher than the Mesh head so the mesh head touches the foam . You will get use to the feel of the Mesh head. . Stan.

Very interesting but I have few questions since I’m thinking about to do with my Roland td-3 hi-hat controller (approximately the same construction as the alesis): 1) Did you also mount your Alesisi Hihat pad on the Hihat stand ? Do you play it in this manner? ( approximately like a Roland VH-11) 2) Did the transformation modify the overall sensitivity of the controller ? Is it now better, worse or the same as the one of the original Alesis controller before modification ? 3) Do you have a video showing the result (playing the hihat !)?

If you are using a TD3 you should just buy one of my controllers and same you self some work . Go to www.ebay.com/itm/321272602677?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 You can use any cymbal on the stand and no it is just as sensitive as the foot pedal.

This is a neat idea but why don't you just use the base of the pedal itself?! I mean, remove the board, but maintain the rubber there, as well as for the Circuit. Then slide that underneath the Hi-Hat stand. No nead to tear the jack out and no nead to glue stuf. Just use the materials provided by the pedal itself to make it work.
