I have a 1951...was in beautiful condition but was in a fire and aged 40 years in one hour. Now to do a restoration like you did...inspired!

Good afternoon, I know this is unrelated to anything, but I noticed this car on Hemmings and it looks like you have some experience with the TD and paint colors. Do you have any current, personal knowledge of a paint code for Silver Streak Gray. The ones online are old and of no use with the new paints. I have no chip, so I am looking for someone who can help. Thanks for any help you can give. Jim Smith

It was a joy to rebuild... retirement project but now I am out of space and have two more to start on. 53 td and 55 mg tf 1500

50mph at 3500rpm? don't think my standard '53 would reach that speed.

The engine was rebuilt with 40 oversize pistons, lots of power

don't see too many of those pricey center armrests. i've got one on order. how do you like it? :) lovely restoration BTW. best color combination... that green over tan interior. :) just finished my first long day's journey in my new-to-me '53. two hundred miles round trip from oakland to sacramento. i suspect you'll be wanting at least a driver's side rear view mirror. i suggest a windshield mounted one. i found the two that were mounted on the fenders when i bought the car to be pretty much worthless and removed them. YMMV of course. not to mention holes in fenders are unnecessary. :) do you know the differential gearing ratio? standard on those TD was over 5 to 1. i'm in the process of lowering it to 4.55 to 1. ... hoping for less engine stress (lower RPMS) at higher speeds at the sacrifice of some acceleration and hill climbing.

Thanks for the compliment on the color combination. I have a new left front mirror coming... hole is already there. The standard ratio for the TD is 5.125, at that ratio 3500 RPM gets me 50 mph. at a 4.55 ratio the same speed will save you about 400 rpm. This was my third "T" restoration. I plan to sell this one because I have a 53 TD and a 55TF 1500 in the garage waiting for their turn to restore.
