Hi Bruce, this is such a fantastic video. Your videos always are very apt and may be because I am on that journey. The tips at the end are very useful and it just validated that I was doing the right thing. I guess that’s part of being lonely at that position that one doesn’t really receive validation or it’s hard to trust the validation one is getting from others. My struggles were more around the second point you make about friendship vs being friendly. I raised through the ranks at work and made a lot of friends through my journey. I knew a lot of about people and their lives. But reaching certain position, the distance naturally formed because how much information I held, how much I couldn’t share. Also felt quite unfair making decisions in the leadership position that may not have been favorable to these friends. E.g. company restructure and lay offs. Losing friends wasn’t a good feeling. Thanks for your advice again. I will be doing things differently with my new venture starting soon in Canada. You have a fantastic day ahead.

Hi Bruce. This video has helped me a lot. I’ve been struggling to accept a loss I experienced 3 years ago. Would you say then that acceptance and your developed skill of dealing with these situations is more of a logical skill that you have developed? As opposed to an emotional on? As you said, the stages don’t have a timeline. So long story short is always and only give to focus to mainly things within your control and take your focus off of the things that are not, such as a loss. Thank you very much Have a nice day.
@BruceDJohnson5 ай бұрын
Andrew, thanks for your comments and your honesty. Acceptance begins with logic and moves to the emotional. I just dropped a video on goals vs. desires that I think will be helpful. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rau1iImKgrx6bs0 We all feel happy in relationship to the amount of control we perceive we have. Since you can't change an event in the past, I would always choose to accept whatever happened and focus on what I can control (which is only me). In this case, what can I learn from what happened and then move on. I can only control my actions and thoughts today (not the past) so I would focus on today and what can I control in terms of my attitudes and actions. The past is a horrible master. It's always better to let go of the past so that it no longer has any control over you. Loss is never fun. But you never want to let that loss to control your present or your future. Hope that helps. B

@@BruceDJohnsongreat thank you very much I’ll watch that one next. I actually just edited my comment and before realising you had replied your answered my new question in this old one which was essentially about just shifting your focus to what you can control, thanks very much.

Thanks Bruce. Another great video. Remaining objective seems like a state of a zen mind. I have generally noticed, the more balanced, content and fulfilled I am, the more objective and considerate I am to people and situations. I get your point, I will probably have to find different words than ‘desire’ and ‘goal’, to trigger me to resettle to the state of calmness. Many thanks again !
@BruceDJohnson5 ай бұрын
Thanks! And yes, whatever word you use works for you. For me, the trigger is simply asking the question (not the words of the question) because asking automatically reminds me that I've given over control to someone or something else. 👍👊
