hey man how many boxes did you end up using for the whole floor

I hate the most leaf springs, especially in the front, they sag and crack. Other than that steering box seals. Also front shocks are too short from factory, there's a lot more travel in the leafs adding to horrific ride second only to Suzuki Samurai.

Had my Toyota hilux for 27 years two wheel drive I kid you not it’s never broken down and the most I have spent on it is the exhaust and tyres slight oil leak now but nothing to worry about . Awesome van

Hi Liam, this is Peter from Gumridge. You're welcome to contact me and I'll organise for you to camp at the main area with the view. You must have been here on one of the three really busy weekends of the year.

Awesome review! I love these trucks and if you keep up with maintenance they’re amazing trucks. Also in New Zealand parts are pretty cheap as there’s quite a few considering how old they are now

Legend mate. Was a 5 minute fix instead of a two hour replacement and 75 in parts. I had to put a washer in a well.

Bloody legend mate , my 1999 lux just started doing this. Square head screw did the job. Probably not the safest but good for now👌

Hey mate just curious about why you swapped the sump? Cheers.
@LiamKeys5967 ай бұрын
Cuz the sump for a 167 won’t fit over the solid axle so need to use the one out of the 106
@danm23607 ай бұрын
Interesting, I put one in my ln106 and it fits no worries. What issue did you have? Genuinely interested because there seems to be a bit of confusion about what is interchangeable between the 5L & 3L. For anyone who's interested I have a 5L bottom end with Ln167 sump in an Ln106 with 3L head, injectors, pump and all other bolt ons using the 5L head gasket. Runs like a dream. Only ended up with this set up because I did the bottom end in the 3L and already had a good 5L bottom end sitting there. Saved a heap on a rebuild. Cheers

All just maintenance over time if you buy new one your spending money on them from day one and there far to much electronics bs on them now that are a headache when they start playing up services every 15000ks anywhere from $800 to $1500 + after 100,000ks the big bill hits you that can cost you thousands. But most new vehicles after a 100,000ks the motor is done as there just not built to last. There use way more fuel and the listed goes on.

Thanks, mate! I just came across to your video. I am lived in NZ and AU but I am Brazilian and I am just now looking to buy japanese Hilux from 90s over here. With front solid axles are very rare here. Your video certainly helped me to understand better what to expect and what to do as soon as I find my Hilux here. Thank you!

Agree with all you said. Have a 96 version. Also recently replaced front calipers, made a big difference. No steering box, however replaced the pitman arm. I've owned it since new and love it. Son had 31in tyres on it, I went back down a size when I got it back. Made a huge difference going up hills and braking.

This was super handy. I’m driving my boss’s 2011 Mercedes Vito but looking to buy a vehicle of my own. The Vito has had the power steering pump die, the fan doesn’t work - neither does the AC and I’ve replaced both brake and headlights in the 4 months I’ve been driving it. I think an old hilux sounds like a great upgrade haha!
