This song takes me right back to this one summer arvo, just before I was leavin’ me hometown to head off to uni. I was outside me best mate's house, the sun was settin', throwin’ this warm, orange glow over the street. We’d been mates for years-grew up together, got up to all sorts of mischief as kids. But that arvo, standin’ on her front porch, I could feel it-things were about to change, maybe for good. We didn’t talk much-just a bit of banter about the future-but there was this unspoken vibe that this was it. This was our last proper moment before life took us in different directions. When we hugged, it wasn’t just a quick one; it lingered, and I could feel the weight of it. I knew deep down that our friendship wouldn’t survive the distance-not ‘cause we didn’t care, but ‘cause life was just gonna get in the way. As I hopped in the car and drove off, I looked back in the rearview mirror and saw her standin’ there on the porch. Got a lump in me throat. It was a mix of sadness, nostalgia, and just knowin’ that some things, no matter how much you want ‘em to stay the same, they’ve gotta change. That drive home, with the windows down, summer breeze comin’ through, felt like the end of somethin’ special. That’s what "Let You Go" reminds me of-a quiet farewell to a part of your life you’ve gotta leave behind. ♥🇦🇺
