Hi ! I was just wondering..could I choose this program even if I want to go to medical school? Like can I take those additional requirements at columbia or something. Or should aspiring medical school students stay away from this program. I really wanna do this program but I also wanna go to med school so im a bit unsure.

Do you know if the requirements for the Bio/Neurosci course are hard and fast? I took IB and once you choose your courses in year two, you can't alter them. After I took Biology in year 3, I discovered how much I love it. But by then it was too late to change my courses (in my case, to teh Higher Level version that the program materials say is required). Will the selection committee consider an application in such a situation?

I;m not sure what you mean by the passing grades in English, maths etc. since I did A levels and my A level subjects were biology, chemistry and geography. So would the English and maths requirements come from GCSEs?

Hiii i am a prospective student applying from India to the dual ba programme this year. Is it in any way mandatory to submit the SAT score. Will the non inclusion of it affect my admission in any way?
@thedualba8273
@thedualba8273 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! So for the 2022-2023 admission cycle. The Dual BA will not require you to submit the SAT or ACT due to Covid. I have copied below what the admissions office has had to say on this affecting applications. "Since testing is no longer a required component for the first-year 2022-2023 application cycle, students who are unable or choose not to submit test scores will not be disadvantaged in the admissions process. However, if students have previously completed testing and can submit SAT or ACT results, they are welcome to do so; submitted scores will be considered as one of the elements used in the review process on their application file. The admissions committee will continue to evaluate all submitted information within the holistic and contextual review process that considers the individual circumstances shaping each applicant's journey. The rigor of a student’s curriculum, academic achievement, and demonstrated intellectual curiosity will remain central to the review of their application file." But since you are a student applying from India, unless you are currently studying at an English language school, you will still have to complete the English testing requirements which can be found here: tcd.gs.columbia.edu/content/language-proficiency

hello!! this was an extremely helpful video for me so thank you so much! I am still in my junior year (well, at the very end of it) and I have a lot of figuring out to do:) This course really grabbed my attention because of how international it is while giving you many options to major at, such as History, European Studies, Neuroscience etc. My only question is that on the interview do they ask you questions about neuroscience? What I mean is, do they test your knowledge, or are they mainly focusing on WHY you chose neuroscience?
@thedualba8273
@thedualba8273 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! So a large majority of your interview will be focused on why you want to study neuroscience, why you want to study it in the dual BA, etc... They will also most likely ask you some content based questions as well. Nothing crazy though! Most content questions will be related to things you mentioned in your essay or resume. For example they might ask you about a science project you did, or ask questions around a scientist or scientific breakthrough you might have mentioned in your essay.

Hi there, I'm hoping to do this course next year, what are the different options of modules that you could have picked as part of those 6. Also, when you say that they expect time to be spent on research, etc more so than in lectures, what does that involve? Do you mean things like assignments, etc or research completely independent of that (and if so when will you use that research you have done)? Thanks!
@thedualba8273
@thedualba8273 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! So for first year in MEELC the only module you get to choose from the six is what language you want to do. MEELC has us do a lot of our prerequisites first year. Second year you get a lot more flexibility and choice. When I say research, I am referring to your out of class assignments that you will have to do. Almost all of which will be essays. The research for those essays can vary from class to class and student to student. But normally includes different books/articles/readings you might need to do as well as research into scholarly journals and article, etc.... The time you spend on this also varies from student to student. Some could spend only a couple hours a week on this, while others could spend quite a bit more.

Hi, prospective Dual BA applicant here! How much money do you have to spend per month for food/public transport/miscellaneous things?
@thedualba8273
@thedualba8273 3 жыл бұрын
This completely depends on your own personal spending habits. I know some people who make it work on 250 euro per month but perhaps don't have a ton of money to spend on things like clubbing, drinking, or travel. Other people have unlimited budgets, though I would say the higher end of budgets is around 1000 per month but the average is maybe around 500-600 (this is for international students). Again it just depends on your own personal financial situation, but for sure budget at least 250 euro per month just for the bare necessities. Dublin can be a very expensive city.

Hi! Thanks for making such an informative and helpful video about the Columbia Trinity BA Program. I'm not sure whether to submit my SAT scores, so I was wondering if you knew the average SAT scores or lowest required scores for this program in the past. Because of Covid and the test-optional policy this year it's been difficult to find info on this. Thanks again!

@thedualba8273
@thedualba8273 3 жыл бұрын
I know that for the Dual BA Class of 24 there are only 2 members in the Film Studies degree, most likely due to the fact that it was the first year the program was offered, and that quite a few people differed admissions due to Covid.

It seems like MEELC is the most popular dual ba major based on what I’ve seen. Would u say that this is the case or that there’s a fairy even spread among the majors?
@thedualba8273
@thedualba8273 3 жыл бұрын
MEELC, Neuroscience, and European Studies are by far the most popular majors. The actual breakdown by major for the Class of 2024 is... MEELC = 8 students European Studies = 8 students English = 4 students History = 6 students Classics = 1 students Film = 2 students Neuroscience = 8 students Geoscience = 2 students History of Art and Architecture = 2 students
