you gotta have autism or some shit to be able to do alt attacks/alt counters while in the heat of combat while also crouching or feinting counters, this game seems so much more complex than something like for honor

dude, literally the best chiv 2 guides that ive seen so far. im a PC player who just started and i also play lot of fighting-based games on controller because of preference, and no other guide this far has been as in-depth and descriptive these. big props to you man, im going to sub as well 👍

I play on PS5. Using L1 for over heads was unbearable, so I swapped L1 for square. Crouching (R3) is super awkward...luckily I put money down on a controller with paddles. I can now fight comfortably while crouching.
@z.p9997Ай бұрын
Great series, over all extremely helpful. But I will say, the commentary on the crouch jab kinda missed a crucial factor. When key binded to right stick specifically as is default, the stick click is a less effective and reliable click than a bumper click for example, requiring more force, and the combination of directional control with crouch and jab makes it even more difficult to execute a rapid stick click whilst also moving your camera. And another issue is having both binded to the same button as is on the controller, one cannot crouch and jab simultaneously.

I have an important question if you have a mouse and a keyboard how to control where the blow is right or left and also the console
@MedicMuffin2 ай бұрын
@s.q1656 The alt key controls alt attacks on consoles but the input for alt feints is a little different in that if you start an attack with the alt key, simply inputting the attack again will do an alt feint. If you start a neutral attack, you have to hold the alt key while you input the second attack. Personally I really don't like it because I place a very high value on consistency with inputs and changing the inputs depending on whether your first attack was an alt or not really does not jive with how my brain is wired. On controller the input is pressing in the left stick when you input your attack. If you watch the controller overlay you can see when I'm using them. The first part of this series also covers alt attacks in detail, although only from the controller perspective. If you meant console as in the command console on PC, you have to enable it in the options first but it's the ~ key.

I think making a video about camera trickery going into attacks.....different types of spin attacks..... how to deal with insanely quick PC player swing/overhead attacks (they give you NO time to land a hit after theyve swung etc)..... types of dodges......weapon trickery animations would be an interesting one......how to initiate attacks based on movement trickery would be another unique topic......So basically anything more we as console player's can do to make it a fairer fight, Hope this helps give you ideas! 🙏🏻👌🏻

Very cool series this was. To be honest, some gameplay analysis would be really cool, both as educational content but also just for some relaxed viewing. I really liked Ziggy's Duel Analysis videos back in the day. I'm sure stuff like that you could pull off as well. Another thing: an interesting thing may be if you were to take on other people's gameplay to analyze. I can imagine that'd be awesome for viewers if they could submit their own clips for example. Just some thoughts.

Would it be the same when using a controller on pc?
@MedicMuffin3 ай бұрын
PC gives you an array of other options for this. I've swapped to using steam input because it can be set on a per game basis. Since you're changing how the controller itself reports inputs to your system, you have to make sure to change your profile back for other games or you'll have a bunch of weird stuff going on outside of Chivalry. With steam input you can alter binds the same way and it's just for Chivalry, so you don't have any issues with your altered binds impacting other games. You can also use 3rd party apps like reWASD which allows for much deeper customization including the ability to separate jab and crouch inputs via binding them to two separate KBM inputs and using a shift layer tagged to the alt key.

Cheers for this series, been playing the game for a while and now I feel I can put all I've learnt together effectively. I would definitely like more vids explaining spinning attacks and 1vx situations (my downfall lol) keep up the good work! PS: I agree throws are mostly skill, I used to suck throwing but now I try think more consciously about pressing the buttons at exactly the same time and seem to get consistent result however I rarely use this mechanic

I really like using the longsword, What in your opinion would be the biggest advantages and disadvantages to most weapon types
@elijahneeson84744 ай бұрын
I personally love the longsword as it's a very balanced all round weapon that works well in most situations. It's very elegant to wield and has immersive animations especially in 1st person. It has light and fast attacks that when accelled can match one handed swords and axes while dealing significantly more damage. If you are skilled enough to discern what attack is being dealt and counter you should be comfortable against most other weapon types however the Spear, Cavalry Sword and Rapier can have some hard to read animations making for harder opponents. Some heavy weapons like Highland Sword, Maul and Ex Axe and drain your stamina quick if you miss your counters This being said I always use the longsword unless I feel the need to change for a specific enemy

Great video! Being mindful about the most basic aspects is so important! I saw a video of a chinese chef that cleans the kitchen with mop, he does it by hand on his knees. He says by performing such mundane tasks he sharpens his view and it translates to other tasks like preparing the dishes on a plate. It also practices mindfulness. I think stuff like that is often overlooked. I like your attention to detail!

When i was leveling up my katars i changed my controller binds too. All i changed was my overhead attack with my special and used my special as a main attack. Changing your controller binds for ANY game is something you should get used to, you will gradually see the difference in your gameplay. It just takes some gettin used to thats all. Good video buddy 👍🏼

Thank you!! I’m on console and I love this game but it really is unfair, I can’t double feint, throwing doesn’t work 50 percent of the time, I don’t trust the jab, and not to mention the raw performance bonus players get on pc. I relatively new to chiv and finding out that I can’t do things that pc players can do is making me really want to stop playing because I’ll never have an opportunity to be ACTUALLY good at the game. Ps you were in one of my TO lobbies last week and were an absolute menace killed me a few times, I think I managed to trick you up on a feint and kill you but I knew it was luck😂😂😂
@MedicMuffin7 ай бұрын
I'm glad this one proved informative for you! My next video will be done hopefully in the next few days and double feints (or alt feints, as I call them) occupy a decently sized chunk of it, as will the jab/crouch input.

I started on PS5 and you can do everything you listed on controller. On PS5 hold/press L3 with your attack button to do an alt. To fient from an Alt hold/press block with your 2nd attack. It's hard to find info for this game but don't give up! You can remap the controller buttons, issue is they stay that way for all games as it's on the console itself. I use a BFG pro and have L3 mapped to a button on the back, as well as R3 and Block.

If you are on Xbox I highly recommend using a Elite V2 controller. Binding the back paddles to kick, jab/crouch, stab & overhead. Can not recommend this way to play enough

Thx for the vid. A part 2 would be really usefull. I am sad Tornbanner really dont care about controllers. I also play Mordhau on console and it is really better with a controller. In chivalry, performing a same-attack feint is easier to perform with a m&k which is a shame. I would be really interested in your opinion and tips for combat with a controller

Life has been busy but I've started pre-scripting an overall gameplay guide for controller players. I also need to play more so I can get footage and figure out how to visually show some of the things I'd like to talk about, but it is happening. Just not as fast as any of us might like :P
