How did you compensate for the flex in the C-section as you added more weight with the additional treads? As in you used a spirit level on that first tread but was that then thrown out of level as you added more treads and with it weight?

If you had to do it all over again, would you totally refurbish before calling the crane?

Invest in a hybrid wind turbin controller, add some solar panels. It'll mean your battery's getting charged in the day by wind and the solar, the wind turbine can be a backup for in overcast and wild weather adding that additional charge

Weld a flat strap along the outside all the way down to tie the staircase together and that will sure it up when you have to pack heavy furniture up the stairs ..
