Finally got around to making this after getting your plans 6 months ago. Worked out great. No kickback on offcuts. Ran a test on some plywood scraps and it came out perfect with no calibration required. Wish I could upload pics. If you have a CNC you should make the template and sell those. I couldnt get a smooth routed template so my clamping area looks pretty janky but still functional

That is awesome. And yes once it is dialed in there is no setup from then on

Thanks for a great video, it made me want to try it. I made a smaller version today made with 3/4 inch ply and just fixed it to my cross cut sled using bolts to hold it down. I just put one side piece in because I had something like this on my miter saw and with two sides the offcut had nowhere to go and would shoot out like a kickback. It's only for small boxes. I tried it out and it is the best mitre I have ever made. This will be the way to go for all my mitres now. Thanks again.

Interesting design. What is the purpose of the slots in 45 degree pieces at the sled rear?

That’s for clamps to hold the pieces in place

This project reminded me of Woody Hyezmar's Bible somehow…, although you can currently get it at no cost, the projects are worth a good look. Maybe try go’ogling his latest.

Yes, a very good example of specialty jigs to accomplish accurate cuts. Have you tried making jigs for other angles, or have you made blocks of wood to add to your 45 degree jig to achieve different angles of joinery? Thank you for sharing this video.

Well done! I have a 40 year old Craftsman table saw with a very good after market fence. It's very accurate for rip cuts and I have some nice crosscut sleds I have built for it. My problem is that the blade will not tilt to 45 degrees or any where close. I think it's a design flaw so I just leave it at 90. So this sled will be perfect for me. Thank you and enjoy the cigars.

I have probably that same table saw, with an outboard motor I am betting. I just solved this issue: check the outboard motor's clearance. I had to adjust the support posts so the motor was actually an extra half inch away from the saw's base. Mine had an issue where the motor mounting plate was binding with outside of the saw's base, as the base shape gets wider near the top of the base. Just watch that motor as you adjust the bevel and see where it binds. I wasted a bunch of time thinking it was sticking inside the base but it was more of an an external issue in the end..

I think I would try to build a splitter that would extend from table through the jig to keep offcuts from contacting the blade and causing kickback.

I made your first version of the sled you designed a few years ago and enjoyed it until It fell off it’s hook on the shop wall and broke in half. It is ironic that I built a smaller version of that same one and just finished it a week ago. I modified the new one with a front and back fence (similar to yours) and a t-track clamping system instead of the 3/4inch holes and I recommend NOT using t-track clamping on ANY version after using it the first time. It is not as solid of a clamping system as your f-clamps design and, because of that, seems to cause some chatter and kickback of the small cut off pieces sometimes if the clamps are not really torqued down. Wish I would have waited just a week longer now that I see your new improved one. I make small boxes and my new one still cuts true and exact. Thanks for the new version, I may just have to go for a third one now if I can’t resolve my issues. Thanks for the video. I see you still get the stoggie in the picture once in a while, lol.
