How about the angle of the levers? When standing, looks like those could be pitched lower.

I think this video needs a re-edit about the arches thing. Old guys still do it but its flat out wrong unless your on a harley. Watch how much jet lawrences ankles flex in the whoops. It would be impossible if he rode on his arches. I was kind of shocked to see this video.

Exactly. What a stupid thing to say. Everyone knows you stand on the balls of your feet.
@mxjammy3 жыл бұрын
in my opinion you forgot to talk about one of the most important things in the standing position, which is to ride on tiptoe. 100% of the pros ride in this way, it allows to have the ankles in addition as a shock absorber and a mobility and a weight on the rear more important

When I shift a gear, do i need to pull the clutch completely to the grip (bar) and doing so I will have to let my other finger off when shifting a gear. Or can i pull the clutch in to the point when it touches my other finger gripping the handle bar ? I have just started to ride so lol
@KingFriday2742 жыл бұрын
You dont really need the clutch at all.

I’m a new rider and now thoroughly confused. I’ve watched five videos from pro-level riders this morning about the attack position. Two said to be almost always on the balls of your feet, one said to be mostly on the heel and this one suggests staying mostly in the arch area. I can see where shifting areas makes sense such as when landing a jump versus coming into a corner, but trying to establish a baseline for practice good technique is hard with so many varying recommendations.

When standing put your ball of your foot on the foot peg. when sitting down move your foot up to the shifter and the rear brake then when you stand back up put the ball of your foot back on the foot peg

What about when accelerating or going up a hill? Do you hold strict with that position and hold yourself onto the dirtbike with your arms, or do you lean in so almost all the weight is still in your feet?
@Motodevelopmentvideo4 жыл бұрын

Motodevelopmentvideo THERE IT IS!!!!! I’ve been told I have to lean forward but I needed to see what it looked like when doing it properly and this is the only video I’ve seen that mentions it and shows it. Thank you!!! I’m going to share it with others who have the same problem as this visual helps a lot.

My issue is how do you shift up with moving your entire foot
@mellavine68144 жыл бұрын
Personally when I'm shifting I like to be sitting or at least very close to the seat. In that case you just gotta be quick and slide your foot under, lift up and put your foot back in the peg. It helps to practice when you just sitting on the bike and not moving :)

Oh u kids this video is the band aid for the problem,when u screw up u do this,u should practice good body position first,I mean u change the angle of the bike as u fly...as u get ready to land u move push down on the bars lighten ur feet in the pegs let the back come up an the front down,big landing s u land on the front wheel,look it up,once u get good u should pratuces gassing it away on the landing it makes things even smoother but takes time and practice I want to do a video and show basics of,and all the mistakes I made learning in my own,but I just retired so that's probably not gonna happen....it was gonna be a beginner video,true basics mostly,in the next life,thanks,hah hah

Nice clean demo,man. When I started racing,to the untrained I things mite have looked cool as long as everyone cleared the doubles,but back in 90s the bikes were really starting to be a performance bike but the riders were still a little behind on the jumping,most anyway,I was lucky enuf to get a jumping video and it change my whole feeling about jumping.The big problem with jumping Back then was almost all the riders would jumped towards the back of the bike when they came up short for what ever reason,bad idea,it useally sent them pogoing over the handle bars it wasn't pretty,but in this video I learned how to deal with the trouble if coming up short,what I learned had me jumping any jump first time out because all I had to do was get the front wheel clear and take all the weight off the rear and bring it all to the front wheel I immediate knew the distance to make the jump,and I noticed all my friends were starting to hate me...especially my one friend who had just broken his collar bone on this huge step up he built in his yard on his practice track I was riding with the race team I worked for,I came up on a 125 and first lap made it clean but landed so short,didn t matter I still have him the video and said watch it and give it to your buddies,it was info 95 out of 100 top PROS did not known.sad THANKS nice video great photography,good slow mo I love that stuff in slow,that's how I got good at jumping me ,I studied. Super cross video of Jeremy McGrath for ten years,oh in super slow and then went out and practiced it when ever u rode a track that had supercross obstacles,be safe have fun be smart go to school if u can u save a lot of time...Mac did.

I am a left foot up starter,but I really like that two foot leg grab feet in front of the pegs I think that is probably the best way for most people to get a good straight line off the gate,because most people don't realize in sketchy traction situation any sharp or jerky movement will break your tire loose four stroke have too much grip,if ur gonna race get the hold down device,in the old days with two stroke u could really dial in how high u let the front carry,not any more four strokes just spin that tiny little bit slower that they get more traction than the average mortal deserves,u run with out the hold down,but me when I was racing,I alway looked at the pros for learning and tips from the top guys,look at the Nationals circuit every one on the line has the forks locked down,when I first started seeing it,I was like what the heck are they doing,then I got a chance to really twist the grip off of a 2007 Honda 450f CR,and I had the rear brake on almost the whole time and the front wheel was still averaging about 14 inches off the earth,u was just having a laugh,the bike was awsum...and now I understand why they lock the forks down to balance the bike so they can run full throttle off the gate,and just get the sweet spot of traction ,stock trim the grip is perfect,so if u start racing check it out the starts count for a lot.thanks good job keep ing it simple good photo and camera view point excellent work....

Kids you will get faster with every lap . If Dad or Mum can't get you to the track at lease twice a week. Get on your pushy bike, Train and practice all the skills you can . Wheelie as far as possible, do stoppies for as long as you can. Try to turn so hard you 2 wheel slide or drift . This will help you so much for your next trip to the track. Plus you won't have to peddle your MX bike. Bonus .

So if 250 smokers race 250 bangers. Do 125 smokers race 150 bangers? I'll race the 125 smokers, on the pipe. No rev limiter.
@skippyf.t.pfilmthepolice23586 жыл бұрын
So what's your apion Chris. Do you think it's unfair for a 250 smoker race 250 banger? The way I've always see it. Bangers need to double the size of a smoker to have the same power. 125 smoke 250 banger . 250 smoke 450 banger. I might get me a 250 smoker and start racing again. I mean surely you have to Hole shot on long starts. Bangers are so lazy to ride.

Chan Burrell 451 check your forks and make sure there not to far back or forward, that can make it air wheelie because the bikes balance is way off. Or you just lean back too much

If you can't become a jedi 'Holeshot Master' in MX & SX after being personally coached by the big Fro D-A-D-D-Y, you might as well just give up Starts & roll your bike onto the Track out of Turn 3 after the pack goes by.

so what I heard was clutch in back brake and gas when you let clutch out to bring down the front end but if your nose diving pretty much not much control and your screwed 😂 wish for the best.
@oo0Spyder0oo7 жыл бұрын
If you're nose up then clutch in and brake to force the nose down, let go of the clutch so the wheel spins again. If the nose is down then you lean back and give it a quick blip of the throttle, this causes a counter action against the sudden rev and brings up the nose.
