Don't listen to the people saying you can't be successful. Rock is still alive and well in the indie scene. You should open a patreon so people can donate. You do not have to conform to any trend unless it's what you're passionate about. Rock is not going anywhere. You make the music you love and the people who tell ya otherwise can pump sand.

Hey thanks for your opinion m8. If we were wearing top hats I'd agree with you but the residents have never been in mind during our 10 years of being a band, the other two members of the band in this album haven't even explored that band before. My dad showed them to me a couple times when I was a kid and I've heard checked them out a few times since but they had nothing to do with the idea of the video. Sure the eyeballs for heads has been done before but I wouldn't go as far as saying we ripped them off.
