Thanks for your inspiring tutorials, I really apprechiate your avanced skills and your teaching! Does it make a difference if I start with the middle / ringfinger group on beat 1 instead of the index finger? This seems to feel a little more natural to my hands.

Hey Martin! Thank you. Glad you enjoy the video. If starting with the middle finger works for you, go right ahead!

I don't understand the reason for moving the wrists. I am able to tap my fingers extremely fast without using my wrists. Is there a reason to learn this still? I can do either 3 or 2 fingers on both hands for a total of 4 or 6 taps being Heard. This wrist thing is not needed?

I am very grateful for your response and I thoroughly enjoy your cajon videos. If you get a chance please look over my channel and let me know if you would like to share more on cajons. I'm and old guy, addicted to cajons and passionate about learning this instrument. I started playing about 3 months ago (x-mas 2023) on a briefcase. I'm making cajons now also. Where I go from here is finding a teacher. Are you avail?@@KamalBensra

Hey Christopher! I use a condensor whenever I'm recording my cajon. I use an m-audio pulsar! As long as the mic can capture the lows of the cajon, I think you're good. The higher frequencies of the cajon are usually easily captured in my opinion!

Thanks for sharing! I assume you prefer playing fast rolls to use doubles in each hand (left index, left middle right index, right middle) rather then single strokes (left index, right index, left middle, right middle)?
@KamalBensra2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sam, yes I prefer using finger strokes when doing rolls. For me, it’s more economical to do so! :)
@alex-reay2 жыл бұрын
Brilliant! I’m just a beginner cajon player and I’d say the way you play cajon is more fluid than the drums, perhaps it’s because you’re able to roll with more fingers. But the snare on the drums just sounds richer, more rounded and less boxy (see what I did there).

If you haven't already, can you do a video on how you mic and mix you cajon to make it sound so great?
@KamalBensra2 жыл бұрын
Hey Sam, ill try to do that! in the meantime though, if you really want good sound, you'll need two mics, and reasonably good ones. I use Sennheiser MKH416 mostly. Hope this helps!
