What systematic theology book are you using as a guide for this course? Or did you write this yourself? We are wanting to start a ST class during Sunday School hour, and I'm trying to decide which ST book (or other source) to use for the material.
@ChristopherShaw7 ай бұрын
For most of my classes so far (there are a couple of exceptions), I'm basing the structure from R.C. Sproul's book, "Everyone's a Theologian." I create my own outline and slides, though the headings and content is largely from Dr. Sproul's book, with some tweaks here and there.

John MacArthur, whether a biblical scholar or not, obfuscates the truth about slavery with misleading misrepresentations cloaked in self-righteous piety. John MacArthur creates a false equivalency between manstealing/kidnapping (Exodus 21:6, Deuteronomy 24:7, 1 Timothy 1:10) and servitude/slavery (debt or freewill). The main difference being American slavery (manstealing/kidnapping) involves the unlawful abduction of a person against their will, whereas debt servitude involves exploiting someone's indebtedness to force them into labor or servitude. Both are violations of God’s law (Matthew 22:36-40) and are illegal in most civilized systems. America, emboldened by her misguided since of self-righteousness and compulsive need to appear holy, to this day (08/08/23) refuses to confess and repent of her sin (bring forth fruit/actions to demonstrate you have repented, for without repentance there is no forgiveness - Matthew & Luke 3:8). Since 1620, America has been a Nineveh in the making. In the end, we all will stand and be judged by God (to give an account for what we did or failed to do) Hebrews 9:27; 10:26-38

The author of Torah had no problem issuing to Israelites this command: Feel free to attack foreign cities, to take men and women from them as forced labor (Deuteronomy 20:10-11), to put them into your service for life, and then bequeath them to your children like any of your other possessions (Leviticus 25:44-46). Israelites were allowed to do this to foreigners from outside their borders; they were forbidden to do this to fellow Israelites (Lev 25:46).

Chattle slavery was illegal in the Bible. Indentured servitude was common in the old world. And like John MacArthur said there wasn't much difference between a quote on quote slave and a regular employee only difference was the one stayed. In fact this goes on today you see live in nurses that take care of people who stay in their house or other types of jobs that require you to stay with someone perhaps farming or living on a ranch. The fact is we are slaves to Christ those of us that walk in him

This slavery apologist is disgusting. Real, brutal slavery existed since the dawn of humanity. Slavery apologists like to create a nice subset of slavery (indentured servitude) and pretend that’s the only type of slave referenced in the Bible. Nonsense. 1 Peter 2:18 “Slaves, in reverent fear of God submit yourselves to your masters, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.”

if you can refute his arguments accept it. don't virtue signal with your moral superiority. Read Paul copans book is god a moral monster. GOD TRIED TO SLOWLY MAKE LAWS CHANGE THE PEOPLE. IF GOD WOULD HAVE TOLD THEM TO COMPLETELY ABOLISH SLAVERY THEY WOULD HAVE NOT LISTENED . HAVE YOU READ THE BIBLE THE ISRAELITES COULDNT EVEN FOLLOW BASIC INSTRUCTIONS TO NOT FOLLOW OTHER GODS AND YOU THINK THEY WOULD LISTEN TO GOD IF HE TOLD THEM TO ABOLISH SLAVERTY. COMPARE SLAVERY IN OTHER NATIONS AT THAT TIME AND SLAVERY IN ISRAEL. YES BRUTAL SLAVERY EXISTED BUT IN OTHER NATIONS NOT IN ISRAEL. GO TO ISLAMIC COUNTRIES AND STOP THEM FROM KILLING APOSTATES AND RAPING WOMEN DO YOU THINK THEY WILL CHANGE. DONT CHERRY PICK VERSES .

Dude quit talking out of your behind, you have no idea what the hell you’re talking about, again I apologize I’m not trying to justify their trying to make a distinction, and if they are justifying it it’s because he was intention servant hood, not slavery where the servant would be given the same rights as a master pretty much, again dude do your research, indentured servant hood, existed for thousands of years it was not just a thing of the Israelites, it’s not just the thing that apologist make up you idiot.

As an honest Christian, I'll admit that slavery is generally one of those practices which have been confirmed as a moral law in the New Covenant, so even though such practices as slave-trading or unfair treatment of the war-captives/criminals are immoral in Christianity, still the slave-labour as a method of compensation, and use of force against a slave are moral options, or in some cases even a necessity for a Christian.

Well unfortunately i stumble a little in your comment because if i cast out demons in the name of Jesus,why does it leave??i dont get why it leaves!I dont get how i received the gift of interpretation of tongues which this paul the deceiver talked about,i literally interpreted sb's tongues,he spoke in tongues and everything he spoke i heard in English??How is this possible??Surely if paul was a deceiver then his message shouldn't work,yet it does,we are so influenced by religion we forget to prove our faith not by debates but by putting action in our beliefs,that is how i realised Christ Jesus is the Son of Man
