I'm studying Chinese and I understood after research about inu neko kanji 犬 ,quān probably became the word for dog species and 狗 gou the word for any dogs, about neko is same as mao 猫
@FunJapaneseLearning9 күн бұрын
Yes, in Chinese, they use "狗" for dog, but in Japanese, we use "犬." There are many differences in how to use Kanji between Chinese and Japanese.😊

Wait a sec, isn't the first word pronounced as 'hi' but not 'ni'?? Is it pronounced like this usually!?
@FunJapaneseLearning9 күн бұрын
In Japanese, each Kanji character can have several readings. The Kanji" 日" can be pronounced, "hi"," ka", "nichi", "jitsu", etc. When we use this Kanji as the word "日本 (Japan)", we read it as "Nihon". That's why you need to learn Kanji as a word. 😊 This video might be helpful.😊 kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5_PZHSth5ecpLcsi=27VJv-xYEB4DHGjh

The answer is 2! 😊 Before ”と おもいます to omoimasu," you need to use plain form. かんたん Kantan is na adjective, and na adjective's plain form (present positive) is "~だ - da." So it should be "かんたんだ と おもいます。Kantan da to omoimasu".😊

Sensei, sumimasen, I have a question. I saw this question in a textbook 次の会議 [______] この資料を読まなければなりません。 The answer is "まで" but I think "までに" is also suitable in this context, right? Like "I have to read this document by next meeting". Is my thinking correct? Thank you in advance.
@FunJapaneseLearningАй бұрын
You are correct! 👍 The answer should be “までに”. If you use “まで” in this sentence, it means “I must continue reading the document until the next meeting. “ If the meeting starts within 10 minutes or so, it is possible. But if the meeting is next week, it will be impossible to keep reading until then! 😅

But, what about 山々, Sensei? Is it correct that it is plural? If it's true, is there other plural exception?
@FunJapaneseLearning2 ай бұрын
Great Question! Strictly speaking, this word is not a plural of 山. やまやま is a word which means "Mountains here and there. Many mountains." It is also used as an adverb word, which means "lots." BTW, it is written as 山山. "々" is a symbol used in place of the second character when the same Kanji character is repeated in succession. We have some plural words, such as "わたしたち (we)," but it's rare. Hope it helps! 😊

Thank you very much sensei. In the case of adverbs of time: Are they always at the beginning of the sentence? I have doubts about the order of the linking words, they should be used after the end of each sentence if they are compound sentences and they are used in the same way we use them in English ? (sorry if it's long but it's a question I've had for years)
@FunJapaneseLearning2 ай бұрын
It depends what kind of adverbs and sentence structures. We need to find a better place not to confuse readers. Hope it makes sense! 😊
Are there any exceptions for this rule? The name Nezuko for an example. When I watch the anime Demon Slayer with japanese dub you can clearly hear people spelling out the "U" in Nezuko. Example at 0:14 kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXysnIOIiN50pJosi=npa-7Mh69XsupazE
@FunJapaneseLearning2 ай бұрын
Yes, the u sound can be pronounced more clearly when we speak slowly or due to personal preference. In the case you mentioned, we can hear a subtle "u" sound, but Nezuko can be pronounced as "Nezko," a silent u sound. Hope it makes sense.😊
@giygas93052 ай бұрын
I have also watched Demon Slayer, but in my opinion, “Nezko” doesn’t flow very well. Pretend her name was “Nesko”. See how much better that flows? Maybe the rule can also include the previous consonant being voiceless. Maybe “zu” doesn’t follow the same rules here. Idk I’m new to this 😂.

In the same vein as @cliffyblyro, how would Berserk ベルセルク be pronounced? Seems like saying “Berserk” in a japanese accent would be difficult. “Beruseruk” seems a bit easier. You’re the boss here! 😅
