Have just checked out Te Huia TT, and I might be able to use that service soon. As I live in the S. Island, I have worked out how to get from Wellington to Auckland by three different trains.

@TrainSpottingNewZealand Yes, Matangi to Waikanae, C. Connection Waikanae to P. Nth. Next day P. Nth to Hamilton, Northern Explorer. Final day Te Huia from Hamilton to Papakura, then Papakura to Britomart by EMU.

@@TrainSpottingNewZealand Only a matter of time before they get the second DBR mainline certified. They have a second DC they will give the same treatment to as well. They will need 4 mainline certified locos for trips like this and with the SA/SD cars.
