I'll always make fun of people who spends money to gamble and grind on a free game. But I wouldn't go as far as to call myself superior, only smarter. But hey, they fuel the devs so keep spending chumps.

I use "f2p btw" but I don't want to fight against spending, I'm grateful to the whales, thanks to them the gacha I love can stay afloat without me spending. I use it just because I'm vane and sometimes I look for some recognition for my efforts. And because when I show my accounts many would think it's all paid, belittling my efforts. It's the same idea of buying ultimate equip against grinding it. I earned my accounts with sheer willpower, I don't want it's mistaken for cash power. Every Gamer has some kind of pride, lol players show their rank, souls players their number of ng+, gacha players their roster.

I've stopped watching @Mtashed ever since Genshin days. 0:54 was the real reason why I stop watching him was because every Gacha game he touch. he will be yapping constantly about "i'm gonna quit this game" (fyi: i only watch 1 to 2 videos before the whole quitting fiasco happen). by end of the day. he is not a role model to look up to in the first place.

Shrug FGO never felt grindy to me as a free to play. There is only so many units I can level, and of the ones I can level not all of them were priority, early days when I didn't have any 50% charging support why would I care what level my Drake's charge was at, an in many cases most skills presented a 1% increase in what they provided(which wasn't even a 1% total increase in power) per level. 4/4/4 was the basic life as I hoarded my resources for years. Your view points seems to stem from largely someone who had to max out everything in FGO they could and own everything, which is gonna be hell of a grind regardless. Both you described before it sounded far more grinder, and I have tried others where the grind has driven me insane. And that's ignoring the modern replacement of the grind, why of all things did RNG substat equipment have to become the norm.

Ancient gacha game player here. Started around infancy of gacha game with ayakashi ghost guild, devil maker tokyo, amd valkyrie crusade. Ancient gacha games usually have low rates and BARELY gives u gacha currency lol. Actually doing gacha in those games are pretty hard iirc, at least for ayakashi and valkyrie crusade. They often have box style gacha too like X amount of item in a box, which u need to empty out to gusrantee ur gacha rate up SSR. Usually no way f2p can do it, its mostly for spenders. They usually have ranking events too that usually pretty girndy af to get good rewards.

Imagine there will time when "i play gacha game cause it free and have a gameplay instead an expensive game that only have realistic graphic with lot of bugging gameplay and need high end console just to play it".....

Then you have Limbus' system where the gacha is meh and has no pity (only a spark at 200 rolls) but the ability to spark most things with grindable materials is insane to me. (though the looming AK collab means I don't think I'll spend those pulls.) 32 pulls per month (not counting bugfix compensation, story content, or anni gifts in general) isn't that bad as well

Aside from meta and Waifu Husbando only players, there is another type of players who roll a character just because they are voiced by their favourite Japanese voice actors. Yeah the seiyuu fandom. Although they are the minority, they exist.

Hi3 powercreep was rough, you wanted to stay at least in red lotus but that alone became harder and harder from 5.0 onwards where every new unit was meta. memorial arena wasn't as important as you still got the stuff to buy some chars from the shoup through events, but Abyss was just a hellhole, especially once you got into nirvana Heck, I remember old abyss where like 10 minutes before finalisation placed like honkai bombs and other traps to reduce other players points, and if they happen to not log in, you could legit demote them that way, now in superstring traps and stuff aren't a thing anymore but powercreep was still a thing last I played

Players really don’t care all that much about a game being FTP friendly. Aether Gazer is very, very generous with its in game rewards and ability to get new characters, yet HI3 isn’t as generous but one is much more popular than the other. Both games are awesome to play (I prefer AG story, combat and lore but I do enjoy HI3 a tremendous amount too) but one is friendlier than the other in terms of in game rewards.

Calling gacha games “predatory” always gets me. Especially when it concerns fully grown people, being talked to like they don’t have a mind of their own and they’re being tricked out of their money for no good reason 😂 fair enough, kids can fall for certain things but fully grown adults can spend their own money where they want and support a game however they please

Separate topic, but there's this thing going on about Wuwa vs Genshin right now. I'm in the mind that Genshin is a good game that barely really innovated in terms of gameplay mechanics through its years of existing (they added a new element, dendro, and got a lot of exploration QoL chars, but that's it). But there's a certain group in the Wuwa fanbase who feel a superiority complex just because their dev is better, the weapon banner has no 75/25, their combat is more complex, etc. Some of their content creators create content just to bait and dunk on genshin fans, which is just malicious and breeds more hate.

I just play cuz it’s fun to play and the memes that come out love the community’s that make the game fun, also characters that make em stand out and the story. Sometimes I don’t even read the story cuz it takes to long and have like 6 other games to play or my homies calling for backup in cod or other games and have to juggle through 😂

From my experience. Gacha things is fine as long as they dont put in any aspect of pvp competitive aspect. I like gacha on game like FGO, ZZZ or any hoyo game. Because its mean for single player purpose. But if it on game like Ragnarok online,etc. when highly pvp aspect are on the game feels more disguisting P2W bullshit.

slight nitpick about duplicate character part. It's not really fair comparison since in FGO you only use one team while AL and GFL you're using multiple team, granted it's in one chapter/scenario/stage/mission but the point is they're able to use dupe character because they're not in the same team only time FGO has multiple team system is Olga quest fight which you can't dupe but it's more of a gameplay restriction rather than system restriction.

I'm a light spender. Rarely buy the top up x2 rewards. I just buy monthly gem card and BP. If I don't have enough to pity 2 highest rarity. I would wait for rerun. What I care about in game is, the combat, characters I like collecting. And I'm a story skipper. And probably listen to the story on youtube while playing another game at the sametime. Highly disagree. Gambling is a terrible addiction and as a gacha content creator you heve a responsibility to minimize the amount of people that spend money on the game. Especially since your audience potentially has minors in it . Obviously the most ethical thing to do would be to not promote or play the game at all but making a culture wgetre it's uncool to be a whale or small spender is a decent compromise.

im a dolphin that enjoys character building and gameplay, less on story and character collecting, as long my built units can clear the game, im content so I dont tend to go for one time good time unit, more on units that are versatile for clearing most of the content, then have backup units that can counter the resist I spend only for great games that deliver great stuff, not cause I want to pull everytime but I support the company behind making the game possible Also if they think genshin is p2w, try netmarble gachas for themselves lmao
