This was super helpful (even 12 years later!). Great to know that it's best to do an ISOL start is the FCU is an unknown quantity, then give the FCU a shot once it's at idle, rather than have it hiccup during start which is more critical.

The Woodward PT6 type propeller governor and fuel control is a much easier control to understand the theory of operation and Woodward controls are the world's most popular aircraft controls. Woodward has a 75 percent market share of all propeller governors. If you like prime mover control history check out the old woodward.com web site.
