I just got talespire, and I wish I had it for my last campaign. It would have made running combat more engaging for my players.

Way too much work just to create a simple scene-they really need to look into procedural tools, instead of having to kit kitbash a hundred different rock assets together.
@illogicalconsistency Жыл бұрын
This only took like maybe 1-2 hours to make tops. I also prefer to custom make these maps instead of autogenerate them because I find custom maps to be prettier.
@Razumen Жыл бұрын
@@illogicalconsistency Yeah, but I could do the same in Dungeondraft in 15 minutes, probably less.
@illogicalconsistency Жыл бұрын
@@Razumen I also use Dungeondraft, but Talespire and Dungeondraft have very different playstyles to them. Though it is best to take in mind that this map (along with most others I post) is mainly for fun. A lot of the maps I make in Talespire usually take less then 10-20 minutes to make, I just don't post them.
@Razumen Жыл бұрын
@@illogicalconsistency What? Neither of them have playstyles, they're editors. Their job is to help people make maps. The easier that is, the better it is as a program. DD has procedural tools that make creating landscapes and buildings more easy, this problem could learn from it.
@illogicalconsistency Жыл бұрын
@@Razumen Talespire has more then just map making tools, I've played multiyear long campaigns using just Talespire. And as I said before, these maps that I'm posting are more for show then anything else. Using a generator just isn't as fun for me as making a map manually. I'm not stopping you from making maps the way you want to, even if yours are nicer it won't change how I make my maps.

2nd video in and I'm hitting subscribe! These are awesome videos and it's nice to see how you lay things out - what tricks you use to create these builds. I must be getting old though, because trying to follow along at this speed is tough :-D Would you consider slowing some of these down just a bit? Or maybe its a video length thing you're trying to hit? Either way - great videos so far!
@illogicalconsistency3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I'm mostly trying to hit around 8 - 10 minute mark, just to keep the videos brief. But, with what I plan on doing next I'll be most likely making them go a little more into the 10 - 15 minute range, just to let people see a bit more of the work.

I love how much effort goes into these maps... God is in the details. Another excellent interpretation of the tMoP that actually makes me want to run that module for a group. My only critique here is something the map as written definitely lacks. That is some much needed vertically, players should have a way to scale the wall and make their way in to the inner structure from the roof level.
@illogicalconsistency3 жыл бұрын
Thank you and also, I completely agree. That is what the second video is going to address by adding some more rooms, stairs, towers, and an elevation change in the surrounding environment. It'll just take a bit, and I'll most likely post a smaller timelapse in between videos

Fun thing as well, I finally got my Talesbazaar account working. This is because I felt that it might be a little unfair to keep people waiting on uploaded Slabs and Boards. It'll take a long time to upload the previous LMoP maps and slabs that I've shown but I've got a couple online now, including the Simple version of Cragmaw Castle. With the more stylized version being released with the next video. I'm so thankful that you seem to enjoy this kind of content. I'll try and get more in the future. See you later, space cowboy...

I think this is what in real estate they call a 'bit of a fixer upper', another great board. Can't wait to see everything on you list, I'm greedy. I do hate Cragmaw Castle though, as written, makes no sense architecturally and there is no outer defences or approach, the player party kind of gets dumped down right outside the walls. Also isn't there a quest hub village in the LMoP, can't recall the name.
@illogicalconsistency3 жыл бұрын
Yeah Cragmaw is a nightmare. My plan is to remake it by kinda ignoring the actual map provided and go off by only the descriptions. To note the village Phandalin; it would be a very large project, thankfully it doesn't fully need a talespire board as there isn't much combat there. But, if I am able to do this stuff more often I'll totally build and post some Timelapses for it (and see if I can include the Redbrand hideout too).
@illogicalconsistency3 жыл бұрын
Now that I'm done Thundertree, I'm curious what section from LMoP Chapter 3 should I start doing next? - Seasonal Wilderness Encounters | Sequel to the small video "Wilderness Encounter Tables." The idea would to be have a copy of each area with a different season - Old Owl Well | Ruined Watchtower with a Wizard and some undead outside of it. - Wyvern Tor | A cave mouth that houses a band of Orcs led by an Ogre. Or, - Cragmaw Castle | The abandoned castle where the Cragmaw goblin clan stays. Once the latter three of these are done I’ll start uploading my rendition on The Wave Echo Cave

Love this, looks like the perfect starting village for an entire campaign. Would love to see a party play through this, using their resources and influence to make small improves over time. Recruiting a blacksmith, paying for the construction of a shrine to the local spirits etc. Also hopefully the devs will add a ton more farming, rural assets... that was some heroic effort to bash together something resembling a mill.
@illogicalconsistency3 жыл бұрын
Thank you; I almost cried when I saw that the original map had a massive waterwheel and mill. The Mill Grinder is saved in my personal Slab Library just because I know it'll be needed somewhere else.
