Seeing that takes me back to being a kid in the 1970s, watching old movies on channel 11 on Saturday afternoons after Rocky and Bullwinkle and Underdog in the morning, with the signal coming in through our rooftop antenna, which worked great at our house, 50 miles or more from the TV transmitters. WTCN 11 was the independent channel in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St Paul, Minnesota) then. In the late 70s or early 80s there was a big shakeup in Twin Cities TV. WTCN 11 became affiliated with NBC, underwent a couple of call sign changes since, was briefly WUSA, and today is KARE 11. KMSP 9, which before the shakeup was ABC, became the independent station (but not MetroMedia) and when FOX came on the scene they affiliated with them. KSTP 5 which was NBC before the shakeup became ABC and still is. All this network switching happened on the same day. I believe it happened because ABC severed its relationship with KMSP for some reason and signed a deal with KSTP, and other dominoes fell in the process. The other two TV stations in the Twin Cities were unaffected by all this chaos. WCCO 4 was and still is a CBS affiliate, and KTCA 2 was and still is PBS.
