I feel your loss, especially with Milo being such a young age. In February 2023 we lost a much-loved 17-year old cat to heart disease. On the 1st of April that year (but by no means an April Fool's Day joke) we adopted a 10-week old kitten. 17 days later she started vomiting and passing diarrhoea all over the house so we took her to the vet as soon as they opened. She was diagnosed with a viral gastro bug that is essentially the cat form of parvo virus. It's bad enough in humans but in a tiny kitten who wasn't yet old enough to be vaccinated against it, it could have easily been fatal. My husband and I both had a very long and anxious day, thankfully being told at the end that our sweet little girl could come home. She was determined to fight the infection - and thankfully she did. By the following morning she was a completely different cat and turns 2 in a couple of weeks. It could so easily have gone the other way. 17 days with her was just as precious as the 17 years we spent with her biggest, biggest brother whom she never got to meet. We were truly grateful that she chose us to be her humans, and we are forever grateful for the care our vet gave her, enabling her to still be with us today and hopefully for many years to come. Her big brother also suffered from problems with his liver at a young age, after he stopped eating. He was put on a course of tablets for 3 months and thankfully recovered, but it was touch and go with him for a while there too. Rest assured that Milo knew he was and will always be loved. As they say, cats leave paw prints on the floor, the furniture and on our hearts.

I’m so sorry for your loss of Milo. He seemed to be a precious little one. I hope he is playing with my two recently departed cats, Secret and Kid. Secret was with us for 10 1/2 years. Kid made it past 11 years. They were from the same litter. Lost them both this past year. I cried for your loss as I cried for my departed babies. I’m still grieving as I’m certain you are. I hope we will all be together again one day. ❤❤❤

One of my first experiences with death was losing my 2 year old cat, Baby-Kitty, to liver failure when I was 7 years old... She was my buddy, never leaving my side, sleeping on my head, licking my hair as I slept every night... We did what we could to extend her life by giving IV's and such, which looking back, was selfish and cruel... She turned yellow and became weak, eventually succumbing in my arms... It took years to get over her... I'm very sorry for your loss. Just know putting him down was the humane route. May Milo rest peacefully and you one day meet again.

Not sure if you're still reading these comments but I had a similar thing happen to one of my cats and the vet did an autopsy and said the same thing , liver failure. They tested the food I was feeding them and found a bunch of heavy metals in it. I changed my cats feed to all wet food and dry food made and sourced in the USA only. Several pet food brands may source ingredients or manufacture products in China. Some examples include Purina, Hill's Science Diet, and Blue Buffalo. My cats are much healthier now. I also don't leave the dry food out until they finish it. If it's not all eaten in a day I toss the rest and give them less next time. I'd rather they were hungry at meal time instead of eating stuff that's sat out all day. If they are still hungry and finish the dry stuff I'll give them more then put the rest back in the sealed container.

I cried watching this - I had to say goodbye to my Niles for an illness similar to Milo's - I am so sorry for your loss

Trust me this is hard... I have a main coon, who is slowly fading. She lost weight, took her to 2 vets and it wasn't her thyroid. She has gone from 16 pds to 8 and eats a full can of wet food every 2 hrs.. I know her time is limited... its hard

Perhaps the saddest fact of life for us all is that, without exception, all relationships end.

This is sad but there is something sadder. It's the delusion of heaven and hoping to meet someone again. There is no evidence for any of that. Life is short and therefore so precious it must be treasured for every second of it
