I found out about these videos about 2 days ago, and I think I've watched about 15 since then lol. Will these be back this winter?

Great review. Im think i'll be buying one of these. Which of the skis did you like more and/or were more fun for you? What would you rather recommend?
@sagePerspective2 күн бұрын
Both are so fun. I would say the 115 is more of a quiver ski, ie- good for ski resort when new snow is regular,or on a big pow day. the 105 is more of the perfect all rounder, good on a deep day or a hardpack charging day, and is probably the most versatile ski of all the wider skis atomic makes.

Hello Sage. Great review, im extremely split beetween the Dynastar 108 M-FEE and the Maverick 115... Could you please share your thoughts on both? pros and cons? i Mainly ride all mountain + the occational big hits where you have to stomp. im 186CM tall, should i go 177 or 185? for the ski. Thanks
@sagePerspective3 күн бұрын
I dont know much about the Dynastar 108 so I cant comment, clearly from the video you can tell Im a big fan of the Maverick 115, it is a all mt machine for sure. And if your looking for something with a little more versitility, the 105 Maverick is equally a hard charger and good on any day pow crud what ever. For someone your size i would say definatly 185 or longer. I'm 176cms 185 is ideal, and I like riding the 193 as well.

would love to see a video like this on the Backlands :) especially with some considerations about which to choose for free-touring and a mix of free-touring and resort riding
@sagePerspective3 күн бұрын
Great suggestion! I haven't skied on the new backland 109, but seems like from what Ive heard from Chris Rubens (Canadian pro who developed it) it seems like it would be a perfect fit for what your looking for. Once I get some time on them Ill try and spin up a review.( Look for Chris's instagram post about the ski for a quick review from him)

Thank you so much for putting out this video! I am opting to get a 115 myself. I am 6 foot, 190 lb, just enough athletic (from the off-season when I have to focus at work, will get a lot better starting now to the new year). Advanced ski level mainly skiing the Rockies, prefer wide open lines and jumps but also need to get through the trees with friends. What would you recommend for the size of the ski, would 193 be too long for my height and weight? I was pretty set on the 185, but I saw the measurement and apparently, there is a lot of tip and tail splay. On the 185 it's roughly 100mm, leaving about 80mm of effective edge. This will be my dedicated powder and freeride ski for bowls. On my other qst 98 I skied the 183 and it felt short, all of my other on piste skis have over 140mm effective edge. It would be really helpful to get your recommendation on it. Thanks!
@sagePerspective3 күн бұрын
I Bet you would still like 185, but I bet you would feel like they skied short. Im 5'9" 150 LBS and its pretty sweet for my size. I spent a whole season on the 193, (mounted +3cms in front of rec) and after a little bit of getting used to them I loved them. that being said i would recommend the longer ones. you sound like a strong skier and you will quickly get used to the extra length and enjoy the full size.
@edouardrajotte78377 күн бұрын
Great vid! is this pack adjustable in length? On the TNF website they sized it as L/XL and i was wondering how that worked. Thanks!
@sagePerspective3 күн бұрын
Not adjustable other than the standard dual shoulder strap adjustments, ie, a short adjustment on top of shoulders pulling pack closer to body, and the longer straps under the arms that tighten the shoulder strap length. the size is more a reference to torso length person that it will fit. I like the L/xl better as a 5'9" guy.

@@sagePerspective Cool thanks! and thought so. There aren't many big guys that hop and pop like the 150 guys. The strength to weight ratio is huge when people are talking about skis. I would ask you to take some laps this year with some bigger dudes, but I don't think there are that many that ride like you do. I'm 6-2 210.

i absolutely love my maverick 95’s, and have been looking to get something wider for those deeper days at whistler. i ski the basically everything other than triple blacks. do you think the 105’s or 115’s would be the better of the two? praying the whistler demo hut has the 115’s as i think the 105’s will be too small of a step and won’t be the best true powder ski. also, 5’6, 155 so that 17Xcm length is where id end up. thoughts?
@sagePerspective13 күн бұрын
Yo! glad to hear you like the 95! I think that your prob right that the step to 105, wouldn't quite be what your looking for for the deep days. its a great ski for sure, but for me as I stated I like it better on the non pow days. I think you would be stoked on the 115, and either the 177 or the 185 would be a good fit. I am 5'8.5 155lbs and ski both the 85 and the 93. If you end up on the 177, Id say mount +2cms in front of factory.
@sagePerspective13 күн бұрын
@tgbsuaoanfbeuw also, I asked around and unanimously the word was that the 105 is the most versatile in the Atomic freeride line and still amazing even in deep bottomless pow.
@shawneggers448414 күн бұрын
Great reviews! Had I not found a great deal and pulled the trigger on a set of ripstick black 106’s last season, I would be all over that 105. Maybe I’ll try and find a 115 to add to the quiver lol

What would say is the depth limit for the 105?
@sagePerspective15 күн бұрын
Hard to say, they probably would be fun even on a deep day, just not going to provide the same floatation as 115-120 mm width skis.
@sagePerspective13 күн бұрын
I asked around and unanimously other athletes and internal people raved about how amazing and verstile the 105 was in all snow depths including bottomless deep, so seems like there is no limit!

Thought the 105 was the worst ski i had ever been on. So hooky and unpredictable in soft snow.
@sagePerspective17 күн бұрын
Hmmm, fair enough, often if as ski is hooky its usually too sharp in the tip, Detuning is key to getting a new ski to perform properly. Ive not noticed them doing that, the forward mouting position could help as well. Were they demo skis? A buddies? where where they mounted?
@Ceemysix14 күн бұрын
Definitely sounds like the ski had a bad tune. Or, and a big or, the snow consistency you were skiing on was getting the HRZN tech to hang up in the tips.

I guess 105 are little bit stiffer? How 115 and 105 is different in stiffness profile?
@sagePerspective17 күн бұрын
I dont know what the numbers are exactly... and when I give them the hand flex test, the 115 feel stiffer, but maybe its just because there is a lot more ski to flex. over all they feel pretty similar when I hand test the tip flex, tail flex, but the over all feeling is it takes more pressure to flex the big ones.

Such a great insightful video, thanks! I went back and forth between the Paragon 107 and the Mav 105. GP makes those GONS 107 look so sweet in the fresh pow. If your sense for the Mav 105 is for more for what you described here, I think I may have to rethink my choice once more. What's your thoughts on how most videos describing the GONS 107's as an advance to expert ski? Fired up for the season!
@sagePerspective18 күн бұрын
Right on. Glad you liked the video! I don’t know a ton about the paragon 107, but I would put the 105 in a similar category. Definitely a ski for more advanced skiers and the 105 will still do well in the powder, but to me, I consider it More of the every day all mountain charger when it’s not a Pow day.
