Riding has done so many amazing things for my mental health. There's just something about the raw exposure and vulnerability about being on two wheels at speed. The wind, the smells, no cages or glass around me to insulate me from the world. Something about it just... helps. I don't know the words. Depression, anxiety, fear, anger, it all just melts away. And for me it doesn't come back when I turn the ignition off and go inside. To finally have somethings that's mine, that's me, something that even if I'm riding with someone, I'm still doing the riding and so are they. I don't really know how to say it right. My mental health, my emotional clarity, everything has just mellowed since I started riding last summer. I should have done it a long time ago, but at the same time starting this in my mid 40s keeps me from doing stupid stuff like I'm sure I would have in my 20s. I know me in my 20s, I would have. God bless, brother. I hope it warms up over there before too long! We get one or two warm-ish days every now and then so I take every opportunity I can to get out there.

I love hearing this! I feel the same way. It’s hard to describe when you are cruising down a road, the only thing I know for sure is I’m having fun. We had a beautiful day today, sunny about 45 degrees out, but I had to “adult” after work. Weather doesn’t look promising in the future. Ride safe brother!

I rode dirt bikes as a kid. Pretty familiar with manual transmission bikes. Is the 500 a good starter for me or will I get bored?

I would say it’s a good starter. I can’t compare it to anything as this is my first bike, obviously it’s a super lightweight bike and got good enough power! I do want a bike with more power and top speed one day lol

Nice....I'm also about your size 150lbs and your height....i'm debating between this 500 and the 400......the struggle is real, lol........I'm sure you had the same predicament ....i heard the 400 was funner to ride.

The N400 is the same bike as the N500, just little bigger engine and better technology. Either it would be a great bike!

@@MotoTSJIt's the same engine as the 400. Stroke and bore have been increased. The 500 is slower and heavier. In every way possible, the 500 was a step backwards. The 400 revs higher and is faster, the 500 lost some of that top end to get more down low. Nothing wrong with either choice but to say the 500 is better? Based on what? The screen? The engine is not bigger, it just got longer teeth. Both are nice bikes regardless but the 400 is better in almost every way.

You'll never find the bike at MSRP with no extras like taxes, fees, and extra dealership charges 😂 it's almost always $1-2k more (& in this case he didn't get the base model) lol

I'll get one before next season looks very handy especially when I have my leather suit on. Put my phone under back seat a few weeks ago and it bumped something underneath and starred tearing screen protector.

There is an another adepter you could buy that you hook up to the battery to charge your phone. I already have an USB outlet so I did not need to purchase that other adapter.

If theres no ice, I’m riding. If there is ice, I have a project bike I work on. Southern Idaho weather is a lot better than where I used to be up north, so you can ride most of the year. It’s pretty nice.

Where I'm at we don't need to Winterize but I also really can't ride during the summer. I'm in Vegas for reference. I saw the bike on both stands and was worried that storing it like that might hurt the shocks. Apparently, you are good there though and it shouldn't hurt them. How do you like the Leo Vince exhaust? I just purchased a Coffman's Exhaust for mine (Ninja 500).

I was looking at the 450ss or the Ninja 500. I ended up getting the Ninja because the only dealership didn't know when they were going to get a restock of the 450ss. That 270 degree parallel twin sounds really good.
