Why are they called "Baggers" in Europe - but Excavators here in the U.S.? I never understood the term Bagger to describe them.

A smooth operator in a dragline is the ballet of friction machines. One constant smooth movement.

The line speeds are actually lower than the 22 R-B : it’s just that, with only 30 feet of boom, it seems to take less time for the bucket to join you in the house !

Longreach diggers are handy, but not the most enjoyable machines to operate.. they bounce around and in heavy material, wouldn't lift until you got the stick prity much right in.

Needs to be able to let the boom angle much lower to be functional to do what a true dragline does.

Its called a Y (yumbo) boom. Drott, (and Case) used this style of boom for yrs on there crawler and cruz-air machines.

Does the ground settle in? I can imagine that compacting processes may lower the level by some meters.
@debozwi
@debozwi Жыл бұрын
The dirt drops several meters from the conveyor which helps compacting it already and also afterward there comes a big bulldozer to flatten the tops and also compact the ground. The ground will drop a bit over the years as well but not by meters. Thanks for watching!

Hi, well the cab is very good and the seating position and pedals and controls are very nice. The only down side of these machines in my opinion is the loud whine from these winches. The whole winch is full of plenetary gears wchich make quite a noise under load. Thanks for watching!

How is the stability of the bank monitored?
@debozwi
@debozwi Жыл бұрын
The operator is watching the bank. You usually drive to the water edge and you start digging and after a while you see the bank slowly falling in front of your tracks and you drive a bit backwards and keep digging till it starts falling again and so on . When we think we digged the cut out far enough we move our machine one track width to the direction we want to go and the process starts again. Thanks for watching!

I spent many hours at the controls of three different draglines. As a teenager, I learned on a 15-B. After a few years I moved up to a 38-B and then in my late 20s on to a 1055 P & H.
