It's for sure lower! The stock/base one has a slight neck if that makes sense where as this one it's mostly just the sphere which is exactly what I wanted.

I am thinking about buying a GR86 before I move down to FL. I will be living in an apartment and thinking about using this method. Do you think that this method is effective for this car based on the oil pan positioning? I read that oil extractors are better for certain cars where oil drain pain is not the lowest point of the oil pan. Since you did get excess oil after pulling out the drain plug, I assume that it is at the lowest point.
@thisisKB873 ай бұрын
I say it's a nice alternative for those in situations like yours that will struggle with space. With about .3 of old oil, you should be good assuming you are doing about ~3k mile changes.

Again a great video! Keep up the good work. I have another little question is it normal to feel the GR86 engine working on high Gear at about 2000 rpm? I recently begin to feel something Like deep hammering/knocking in this Situation. Its getting stronger on right Turns and is gone on left Turns. Its also Going to be faster and slower depending on the rpms and at about 3000 its gone. But you cant hear anything only feel in on the Pedal and a little Bit in the Steuerung wheel! When i opened the Hood with running engine there was nothing to hear. But maybe its also Just the normal engine Feeling. Till now i Just drove an 1.0 Peugeot 107 and an 2019 Honda civic 1.0 vtec. So i definitly never drove such a "big" engine before.
@thisisKB873 ай бұрын
hhmm interesting...I will say I try to stay above 2k! This car is incredibly noisy mechanically wise. Just make sure to do weekly oil checks while car is cool so oil is all the way at the bottom to get a true reading of the level. I've also read that Subaru engines are quirky, you can't ignore them like you can from a Honda. Routine maintenance and you should be good!

Great Video! I bought me an GR86 in black two weeks ago and its just a perfect drive. But yesterday i was in traffic and had a lot of slow starts in first or second gear and heard that little clunky rattling noise like at the start of the video, when you drive off from the parking lot. I only had 1.0 L machines till this one, is this a normal sound of the motor or clutch ? best regard from europe :)
@thisisKB874 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment and congrats on the GR86! Our cars are super noisy for the most part but I think that's a mix of motor and clutch. Having driven in my buddies 86 and another buddies BRZ, there are clunks and noises at all times which may be a good or bad thing depending on the driver! Anyway I rather not fully gas it at that part when my car is potentially on 3 wheels because of the steepness lol. Now the noise you really want to avoid is when the dude went to walk infront of me but then backed out and I left it in 2nd gear when I should have been in 1st. While you CAN start from 2nd in this car, you do get a bit of engine lugging which is what you don't want. Anytime I'm rolling under 10 mph I blip the gas a little for 1st. Anything above 11 really mph I'm in 2nd gear. I learned those little quirks from being in stop and go traffic every day for work. If you go back through my channel and look for #42 Drive With Me that includes a pov from a 10+ year manual driver in this car. His exhaust is louder because of the headers but you can hear similar noises haha.
@christophernemetz86694 ай бұрын
@@thisisKB87 Thank you for your advices and thanks for your infos about the other 86s and brz. Its hard to get information her from other gr86 or brzs cause there are only a few (maybe 6000-8000) in whole europe, because the car got banned for import. But everytime i sit in it i am smiling :)
