I am doing a cast iron smaller for a too long wood burning stove the i need to cut and make smaller too ...for my motorhome . Do you have a video on either?

Sounds like welding certifications are a money making scam by certification organizations. Make your welding certificate expire, whoopee now that will be another couple hundred dollars for another test.

I would tac either side if the tube to the plate, then flip the tube down flat hanging the tube over a bence or workstation. Torch in one hand and then turn the tube while welding. That's how you weld around tube in one continuous run. Do not tac, just learn how to weld.

Always have a bar of soap handy, to scrape across the threads before screwing in. This reduces the Friction/Heat generated, so less chance of Head breakage (Scraped across a solid candle, is just as good) 🧼 🕯

Apparently either the retailers or manufacturers make the tapping vs drilling label even more complicated. I have 2 different packages of self-drilling screws that were purchased at a big box store and both are labeled self-tapping. I must admit, I've always called the screws with the drill bit type of point "self taping". I guess, technically, KingMetalsInc and I were both wrong but I understood and agree with his intended point….. vs the other point. Thumbs up!

What about using muriatic acid on the metal to remove zinc. After the removal, you watch it off with baking soda and rinse thoroughly. Is it safe to weld directly after the washing processes?
@scienceraven12004 ай бұрын
NO! POLARIZED does UV in one direction from the sun, and welding does light in many directions. something. I was told in some science review.

An this is where my harbor freight welder shows it's weakness. As surprisingly well as it does. It has a delay between pulling the trigger an wire feed. Makes this a bit more challenging.

Only thing is acetone is highly flammable something you really don’t want around your weld shop. Probably a pressure wash would be best!
