I was there. Travelled from Belfast to Glasgow just to see them for the first time since I discovered them 11 years ago now. I had just lost my mother 9 months beforehand and I was dreading 'in loving memory.' They didn't play it thankfully but I saw watch over you as a full band version. That was special!

Sounds tinny and like a toy guitar. Lowden guitars are overrated and i would rather have martin or taylor any day

Agree - I have all three brands - by far and away my favourite is Taylor.

Agree with this. The two best guitars I ever played were a late-80s Martin 00-21s and a ca. 2000 Taylor jumbo. This thing looks and sounds cheap

I can understand the comments made in relation to a leaning towards a certain brand of guitars but feel these are too general. You have to appreciate these Lowden guitars are offered at a particular price point £595 - £965 and are small bodied guitars. Opinions will vary to someone’s taste. I have S04 and fell in love with it and think it’s fantastic value for the price point. My point is I don’t think it’s fair to compare to a jumbo acoustic or a guitar say at £2,000. To truly compare you have to pitch against similar body size and price point and make a decision based on that. If you are looking for the sound from a jumbo sized guitar then you won’t be getting the same from a small bodied guitar whatever the make. Again if you pick up a £2,000 guitar and then compare to a £595 price point guitar it wouldn’t be surprising if the more expensive model was producing a better tone. Everyone has different taste hence the vast selection of makes, sizes, wood styles and so on in guitars to give a choice to find something you click with. For me I love my S04 Lowden but I also own a selection of other guitars and still pick up others as they all have their own unique sounds which can suit the mood and style at any given time.

Kevin Rowan Exactly the point I was making. If you want to compare to a similar price point and style of guitar and make preference to one or the other great. It’s too generic to state a Taylor, Martin or Lowden is better than the other. It’s also unfair to compare a guitar at 4 times the value. Also as people have different tastes you’ll have a variety of opinion on which is better.

I pre-ordered my W03 early February before NAMM was over. Still waiting, although I've been told its in first batch so should be soon. Is the beveled edge actually edgy or smooth? In the video it looks like there is an actual edge despite being beveled, so curious if the beveled edge feels comfortable or not.

Hey Shane. We ordered two S04s from Guitar Guitar. This one is first batch - the only still hasn’t arrived and should be with us in the next 2-3 weeks we are told. The guitar is very comfortable but I think this is more to do with the size than anything else. The bevel has a slight edge to it and looks good but I’m not sure how much it adds to the comfort while playing. Who did you order from? Hope you get your guitar soon - if you phone Lowden directly they may be able to give you more information.

bridiewhip I am really enjoying it. Comfortable to play and a clean bright sound - especially when played through the L G Baggs pick up. Maybe lacking a little bit of lower end when not plugged in. The neck is marginally wider than I’m used to so still adjusting to that. I think they are going to make a big dent in the lower end Taylor and Gibson market. Most of that lovely Lowden sound and playability for a fraction of the price. Still to hear the W body size in the flesh. Are you thinking of buying one?

It’s £965 which I believe is approximately $1,150 USD. The W01 model is £595 if this gives you an idea of price scope across the range.

The gig-bag is not one that Lowden use for their Lowden-branded guitars They don’t use gig-bags for their Lowden guitars, they used to supply Hiscox hard-cases, and they now supply their guitars in very high-end hard cases made by Ameritage - both the Hiscox and Ameritage cases are vastly superior to this gig-bag.
