I’ve had the absolute honor and privilege to play this piece in front of Mount Rushmore, for Rushmore music camp, with some of the greatest people in the world multiple times. It does not matter how many times I listen to this piece it still takes my breath away every single time. The recording cannot give justice to the power that this piece has.

The fact I can still remember the notes, and everything for Bari sax is insane to me. I played this abt a decade ago

When I played this, the steam release at the end is written in as, “Haaaa” but like airy, and one of the trumpets full sent a HAAAAAA like he was laughing 😂

I've been going through my old high school and college music and found this one. And then saw taht I played Mallet percussion (xylophone and Marimba) on it. ALL the memories of mirroring the flutes and clarinets. All of the octave parts. Jessykreesy but this thing was a nightmare to learn. Sounds AMAZING once it comes together though.

I love this piece, but the cello bowings for it suck so much, I had to re write pretty all of them just for one measure to land on an upbow which was just a huge pain.

It’s currently 7am and I have been thinking about my band a lot recently. I go to a private school and there’s not many people in band, so we have a hard time every year, but we always win state. Our tenor just quit, so we are having to rearrange our entire marching show. My band director started tearing up yesterday in the middle of rehearsal because he was so stressed out. I have been thinking about my freshman year in band and my mind just flipped to this song. This is the song that won us state last year. It is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever played, and I remember breaking out in tears during the performance because of how damn perfect it was. Shout out to Bach and the 2024 Mustang Band for changing my life :). It was truly a privilege to play this with all of yall, if any of you happen to be reading this.

doing this in band right now but i can keep thinking that the moving bit where there are the semiquavers going up and down (pitch wise) sound like the A400 from MI4 Rouge Nation by Joe Kraemer especially with the trumpets and their quaver notes crescendo and decrescendo the bup bup bup....

Parade song for my Senior Year JFK ‘81 Sacramento CA. We weren’t much of a parade band (7/7 grand sweepstakes in field show that year) but this one worked. We played it slow - this tempo. After about a month we had the swagger going on. Mr. A, our band director complained BUT didn’t make us stop. Been looking for this one for a little while
