"Don't have anyone to turn to" - that's definitely something I regularly experience in the context she means it.

Her genius life has predominantly been spent giving interviews about her life as a genius. I defy anyone to provide proof of her intellect beyond beyond achieving high scores on standardized tests. Her claim of being a writer is supported only by an advice column appearing in mass market publications including Parade Magazine, and several books of essays compiled from those columns. I wouldn't say she's a fraud exactly, but neither would I call a can of sardines a seafood entree.

I disagree with her point where she compares being a scientist to a politician. I think that both of them need to be the smartest. However, I also think that a person who isn't smart can not only survive being a politician but can also become one of the top leaders. I can't say the same thing for someone who isn't smart and has opted for science.

Intelligence is essentially the ability to select. A good memory is not a sign of intelligence; but it can be an indication of poor intelligence. Someone with poor selection skills often has a good memory because they can't distinguish between what's important or unimportant, so they remember everything. Creativity and humor are indications of intelligence. IQ tests don't test real intelligence.
@samyakchhajed4 күн бұрын
That's not completely true since people with lazy intelligence who have brilliant memory exist.

Marilyn vos Savant’s IQ of 228 came from an unreliable childhood test, making it questionable. She used the claim to build fame, likely benefiting from the public’s lack of understanding about such flaws. This allowed her to capitalize on a potentially misleading score.🤡
@enterpassword33136 күн бұрын
Iq isnt even a particularly good measure. The same person could do two iq tests and score 20 points difference, however from what i understand she was subject to comprehemsive testing its based on a lot more than one test, she was consistently off the charts

No one wanted the most brilliant humans opinion on intellect and success to hit the mainstream ether did they? 😂 Both her and Chris Langan are smart enough to know that our society is built on lies and nonsense and they chose to stay out of the bullshit rat-race and marxist university system. Intellectuals like to tell you how brilliant they are just like guys who talk about how much money they have and dont have shit. 😂😂

Yea well ok she might be super smart and she was for sure very pretty but one thing that I find disturbing is when she says she started as an investor then switched to follow her love for writing but really the only books she has sold are about her IQ. Really for someone who wanted to live off writings books I find it a little bit disappointing, did she have anything else to tell about than the brain and ultimately herself? Or is it that all her other book never made it through the publisher?

I think it's a mistake to define 'smart' solely in terms of an IQ test result. There are different kinds of smartness: mathematical, seeing a pass on a soccer field, writing literature, creating a new physics theory, and so on. A high score on an IQ test doesn't guarantee skill in any of these. The interviewer is also defining 'genius' in terms of an IQ test result. But surely genius is about innovation and creating something that others haven't thought of and can use. A high score on an IQ doesn't guarantee creativity. I don't understand why high IQ people don't point this out. Maybe it ruins the illusion.

I think that iq indicates the presence of a faster problem solving ability. Assume it takes: 7 seconds for an untrained avg IQ player to think of whom/how/where to pass a ball. 4 seconds for an untrained highest iq player to pass a ball. 2 seconds for a trained avg IQ player. This is what happens in real life too. One of the missing elements here is experience. And there are many others which make it happen. However, assuming everything other than iq is the same. We can understand that a high iq, trained player can pass it in less than 2 seconds in comparison to another with avg IQ if every other factor between them is exactly the same.
@samyakchhajed4 күн бұрын
Also, talent in a particular field is guided by many other innate/learner factors for that particular field. So, you're right that iq doesn't guarantee stuff.

This... You know, it's funny. I watched another video on Marilyn's views about compulsive education. And to explain my point I outlined the hierarchy of the types of people at 3:48 and their ability to teach. It's so strange to hear Marilyn echo my points exactly. I mean, Im not surprised (although some might be). We need more people like her and I agree; I'm sure there are plenty of high IQ people out there (and I feel sorry for every single one of you). Watching youtube (and other media) generally disheartens me with regards to humans and their overall chances (too much hate and basing decisions on their feels, in my opinion). Then sometimes I see the people who could actually change the world, and it brightens my day. Note: KZbin doesnt like me replying to my own comments. So any comments will be answered here.. or maybe ignored, we'll see :)
@samyakchhajed4 күн бұрын
I think that every decision humans make is based somewhat on what their principles are, and how they feel about them. I think that's what guides people, and tbh I don't think we can detach our actions from our feelings. Yeah, based on my biased perception of what's good sometimes some people brighten the day. I also think that being smart gives one the ability to feel a lot of pleasure by controlled self-manipulation which also puts one at ease when in distress. Though, it can also be said that sometimes it develops the ability in people to feel the saddest.

Her analytical IQ may be record breaking but her emotional IQ is poor. If she were more attune emotionally, she would know she came off as arrogant when she arbitrarily framed "smartness" in a light that favored herself, stressing inherent abstract processing over knowledge accumulation...and then she sank her battleship when she said she's so awesome that she has nobody to turn to when she can't figure things out....cuz she's just so brilliant and everyone else is mediocre static in the background. Arrogant...and most with subpar emotional IQ would sense that before they utter it.

High iq people have different opinions about the same thing, there is no absolute answer to anything as the iq scale suggests, it's misleading 🤗 I once joined mensa but left it in short order.
@samyakchhajed4 күн бұрын
There are various other factors which determine intelligence in a certain field/topic. That's the reason for differing opinions. Why did you leave Mensa btw, didn't it feel good to be among as intellectual people as yourself?
