Is there a footpath down at the riverside near the bridge?

the short answer is no, however you can get to the right bank at a couple of points, one via the farm, the other across the field down stream

Sad to say, having gone to Riccarton Junction myself a few weeks ago, it looks a lot different nowadays, mostly thanks to Mother Nature, bushes and other vegetation everywhere. The information board is still visible, as is the station name board, from the western side at least. Hopefully, at some point in the future, the go-ahead for extending the Borders Railway south from Tweedbank towards Carlisle will be given and the railway will be back at Riccarton Junction, although chances of the village being resurrected are probably zero.

It's great to see it from the air. When I was last there a few years ago there was a few yards of track and an old brake van. This wasn't part of the Whitrope group as far as I know.

Hi. Really enjoyed your video. Good work. Well done. I've recently co-written a song about walking in the Border hills and was wondering if it would be ok to use a little bit of your footage in an accompanying video for You Tube? Very happy to give you a credit and big plug in the credits. The hills around Langholm are mentioned in the song words. Here's my website if interested: www.jimithepiper.co.uk Can't get ou anywhere right not to film because of lock down. Cheers!

Hi Howard Thanks for uploading this video , looks like a really interesting place. We live in Rowanburn and have explored some really great places thanks to some of your videos. The Tarras valley is one of our favourite walks. Any chance you could give me the location of this quarry as we would love to have a walk around there? All the best. Steve .
