I can appreciate Orgill wanting to share updates on the new concept center. Although I feel as though the majority of customers would prefer more resources are allocated to improving the website. The search algorithm is extremely antiquated in comparison to their competitors. Coupled with the problem that the item descriptions have little to no uniformity. The information varies heavily within the same item sets. So how you decide to search/what keywords must used to find an item has very little consistency. You end up having to search for an item multiple ways trying determine which is the most efficient route to find it. You have to switch between vendor, type, name, & manufacturer just to find simple things because of the lack of uniformity in how the information is loaded into the system. On virtually any modern website When searching all you need is a product description and name, and the algorithm will be able to show you all the products in an efficient manner. Orgills search algorithm isn’t even able to correlate that “pail” is a synonym for “bucket”. So when you search for “5 gallon bucket it will only show you search results where the item was put into the system with description “bucket”. Sadly Orgills system has empty 5 gallon buckets described as “pails” while simultaneously they have empty 3.5 gallon buckets described as “buckets. This is just one of the many countless struggles with searching on their website.
