Great show. My only concern is that the guy mislead the audience by saying that the Jandeer dance is from northern Somalia. The dance is from the region of Somaliland which is located in the north of the Horn of Africa ( not Somalia) The north was always known as Somaliland and was recognised by the Queen and over 35 countries. After the official independence the region of Somalia joined with Somaliland and we United as ageee with the British governor and Italian governor. Somaliand was known as a British protectorate in 1884 and our blessed fathers came to the UK with these passports when migrating to the UK in 1940s as seamen.

The traditional Somali dance and songs, combined with modern stage and theatre, create a mesmerizing scene of enjoyment. Somalis boast around 600 dance styles, each accompanied by its own set of songs and melodies. I envision the Minnesota Somali Museum sponsoring a team of researchers to preserve and document these diverse dance styles for the benefit of future generations of Somalis and the world. Thanks to all those young Diaporic Traditionalists.
