Fantastic! 12 years later, in 2021 (this year) I’ve captured similar instruments playing some of the same melodies from Lahu villagers about 70km northwest of Chiang Mai. I was watching your video thinking, “I know this melody!” On my KZbin channel there’s a playlist of Lahu videos if you’re interested…

Raj: Kumari, or Kumari Devi, or Living Durga - Nepal, is the tradition of worshiping young prepubescent girls as manifestations of the divine female energy or devi in Asian religious traditions. The word Kumari is derived from the Sanskrit language "Kumari", meaning "Young Prepubescent Girl " One night, the king's wife followed him to his chamber in order to find out who the king was meeting so often. The king's wife saw Taleju, and the goddess was angered. She told the king that if he wanted to see her again or have her protect his country, he would have to search for her among the Newari (Shakya) community of Ratnawali, as she would be incarnated as a little girl among them. The readers can draw their own conclusions about why the King is officiating over pre-pubescent girls for hundreds of years, while his wife is cast as the transgressor. This is no insult to the Goddess or to the female race.

You have to correct your information. She is not Durga Priestess but Taleju Bhavani, an incarnation of Goddess Durga herself. There is no any mention of affairs, in any of the myths and fables related to Living Goddess, between the King and the Goddess but they used to play the game of Dice. Please research and be culturally sensitive.
3 жыл бұрын
That's not what I heard in Nepal and "culturally sensitive" doesn't justify sweeping the dust under the carpet of sexual indiscretion of past royalty. There is an issue here about cultural sensitivity being too sensitive to be honest.

@ Arrogance and ignorance seems your attitude and sorry for that. You don't appear honest to me. You are not allowed to make an opinion about the culture you are not familiar with. Who told you about Sexual Indiscretion of Past Royalty, Christian Missionaries? Don't trust them.

So tragic story, thousands people died because of disaster, many people lost their life, family, houses.... And you put this music into your film???? Is it funny story for you??? Did you enjoy this films??? Do you have any respect for this people and their tragedy????
3 жыл бұрын
No I didn't "put it in" I composed and produced it in memory of the event. You know it's not funny so why ask me? Tragedies are not for enjoyment but can bring insight. The Tsunami is not about respect. It pays no need to life or limb. We are all in the same boat, the way the planet is heading, so use your time wisely. Don't waste your gall and vinegar on me. It's futile!!!!

Why the music? I sing about apocalypse. See: dhushara.com/nino/ . My songs are commentaries on the mortal condition. Many are alarming. None are celebrating, but warning humanity. You can find 9-11, planetary ecocrisis, the intifada and nuclear holocaust. They are there for a reason, not to entertain. Just play it as it lays. This one was made ten years ago because I found I had one of the most comprehensive sets of videos covering the whole tragedy, so it became a lament for 227,898 lost souls. So be it. I am that I am.

Here is the lyrics. Hine-nui-te-pō, also known as the "Great Woman of Night" is a giant goddess of death and the underworld. The great demi-god, Māui is tricked by his father into thinking he has a chance to achieve immortality. In order to obtain this, Māui is told to enter into the goddess through her vagina. One of his bird friends, the fantail, warned Hinenui-te-po of the situation and woke her. As Māui turned into a worm squirming to enter the goddess, Hinenui-te-po decided to punish the demi-god, she crushed him with the obsidian teeth in her vagina; Māui was the first man to die. Tsunami The crest is high, The wave is long. The sea so wild, all hope is gone. The great flood tide is roaring in washing everything away. Is the pain we might feel tomorrow going to see the light of day? Can we catch the wild ride to the light? Is this what our lives are for? Or is our whole world just going to be tossed beyond the shore? Can we ever find our way back home or is it never more? The stakes are high as life is long. The pain lies heavy where love has gone. Is everything we have struggled for just dancing before our eyes? Bobbing on the ocean's breasts or crushed between her thighs? Hine can you tell me now is there any land in sight? Or just a palm tree on the water and a wave of awesome height? Can we ride our way to the summit now or are we the dead of night? We seek the sky. The night is long. The day is endless. Where has life gone? Where have all the others gone, who were clinging to a piece of wood? Have they all been sucked right under? Have they all left here for good? Is there some kind of compensation for all these tangled lives? Is this a time of testing our faith in paradise? Or just the great leveler of all we fantasize?
