I realized the grids of the coordinate system in problem 9 are not visible in the video. You can access the figure through the following link: drive.google.com/file/d/12Wu0QWB4V3CaXNt2iToTUK1sil4EwJTl/view?usp=drive_link

Couldn’t you define a piecewise function for this? It would be continuous for all x but not differentiable
@MathematicsatArenaAcademy22 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Of course, you can. It's quite easy to visualize such a function graphically. For example, you could imagine a zig-zag graph extending from minus infinity to plus infinity, where the sharp peaks reach a height of 7 and the sharp troughs drop to a y-coordinate of -1. With some effort, you can also write the rule for this as a piecewise continuous function. However, I still think the simplest example would be a sine or cosine function.

Good question! I'm wearing the lab coat to protect my clothes from the whiteboard marker ink, which has stained my outfits a few too many times. Plus, it kind of makes me feel like I'm experimenting with numbers in a math 'lab' 😉. Thanks for watching and hope you're enjoying the videos!

I got to 2^x=3^2 and I used log(base 2) on this and 3^y=2^(-1) and applied log( base 3) on both sides. I got that x=2*log(base 2) of 3 and y=-log(base 3 ) of 2. By multiplying these relations I got xy=-2*[log(base 2) of 3]*[log(base 3 ) of 2] and got the same result. Thanks to you showing me this problem I learned that [log(base a) of b]*[log(base b ) of a]=1. Thank you for the video. (Sorry if I am have not made myself clear enough, english is my second language.)
@MathematicsatArenaAcademyАй бұрын
My intention in avoiding the use of logarithms to solve the problem is to make it accessible to my students who have not yet studied logarithms. Of course, your solution is completely correct, and it is a well-known logarithmic property that log_a(b)*log_b(a)=1, for positive values of a and b, where neither a nor b is equal to 1.

In the first problem, I followed the solution that one of the students suggested. A better method may be is to see that pi/2+x is complement to (-x) so sin(pi/2+x)=cos(-x)=cos(x). Hence, the equation is equivalent to cos(2x)=-cos(x), and then, cos(2x)=cos(pi-x).

So, essentially the "technique" was to define a function q(x) using (k + 1) values of the given p(x) as described by p(k), such that all of the (k + 1) values would be roots of q(x)?

The textbook that I follow for this course is a Swedish textbook (Matematik Origo 3c, 2nd Edition). The only English books for the courses you mentioned in your comment that I am aware of are Mathematics 1, 2, and 3 by Jan Nordin.

Thank you for your warm and encouraging comment! I'm thrilled to hear that my explanations have been helpful to you in strengthening your basics for the IIT entrance examination. I truly appreciate your support and am delighted to know that you've become a fan of my teaching. I'm also passionate about IIT entrance examination questions and have another KZbin channel where I solve some of the problems from that exam. You can find the playlist here: kzbin.info/aero/PLEKOZ_nksrBp08AamIvgEVNBMgSRUWR1e I have a suggestion that I believe could benefit you and other students preparing for the IIT JEE exams. If you think students in India would appreciate my teaching style, I'd be happy to create a new playlist specifically for IIT JEE exams on my other KZbin channel: kzbin.info/door/xihP7IIbOKY1NzpGEsfsGw. Additionally, I could make videos directly addressing the questions you and your friends leave in the comment section below the videos. What are your thoughts on this idea? Your feedback is valuable to me!
