Just as the weather decides to turn again 😅, this new tent better be waterproof I tell yah. The weather and water etc definitely plays alot into my routes. Congratulations on all that you have achieved Pete, you truly are an inspiration and proof that a change in life, is as easy as simply having the courage to do something about it. Since stumbling upon your channel by complete chance when you first began, you pulled me to my feet along with you, and here I am, going out for a walk every day. Even when not in the mood, I have made myself get up and head out, and each time I was out in the fresh air, I was extremely pleased that I did it. So, thank you Pete. That was a great speech about life by the way. Having had stage 4 Lymphoma and 2 months to live if I didn't have chemotherapy (6 years ago now😊) and now having Leukemia, I am a bit knackered, but you have pushed me into getting fitter, which has also cleared my head of negativity and gloom. So, thank you again. Keep up the great work 👍

Because sir, you joined my channel very early on and your story actually inspired me and has helped me get up off my butt and push on when I didn't want to. If you can get up and get out then I certainly can. Having said that I am honoured that you have found some motivation and drive from my videos, I am so happy to hear you have been getting exercise and more than that you have been able to get out enough to help clear the dark clouds away from inside your head. I hope we both continue to inspire each other for a very, very long time. Heading back to the Penine Way for round 2 with the new tent very soon but first to the lake district. I'm five minutes into your video and I have stopped to comment. I understand, completely, the effect of being overweight; the kind of miserableness of it all; the horror, almost; the question - "how did 'I' get to be like this?"; the recognition of bad habits; the almost insurmountable mind and physical barriers to changing and even taking the first step to changing!; - all of these feelings and thoughts and many others - are such bl..dy hard work to mentally, emotionally, physically overcome. They can almost be a horror-show in their own right! And in my opinion - for myself - the cold weather of winter has been the final straw to my plans. I am sooo annoyed about the blinkin' cold, mainly because I am too breathless to walk even one mile. But I shall continue to watch this video and be inspired. Tally Ho - for the minute - M.

Yes the cold weather sucks right now, but spring is round the corner, your Durston is waiting and ready. There are so many places even in short walking distance that you can pitch up and enjoy the serenity of nature. I am sure you will be making memories very soon and look forward to hearing about them. Hi there I can relate to every thing you say.just an idea that works for me I walk in twenty minutes bursts across my lounge floor and the hallway when it's too cold to go out I put the radio on and time it it keeps my walking staminar up when it's chilly.all the very best to you🌈

Hi FBB, your going to have to change the name soon if you loose much more weight. I my self have been doing OMAD since last March and have lost 4st 1 more to go to my target weight. Hi FBB, I'm lost for words😶. From episode 1 with a £50 tent, to a hammock, to a cold water dip, to a roundabout, from losing 1kg to 30kg, to storm Darragh, to the winds in the Peak District killing the £50 tent (for now - hopefully can be fixed), to a walk with Janine telling us about the 'Woman's Spirit Project', to a walk introducing your beautiful wife Rose (FBBW) sleeping in the campercar, from a challenge of losing 9st in 12 months and achieving 5st in 3 months, to signing up to walking 62 miles in January for Cancer research and already completing 31miles, to the Dr saying rest up for 2 weeks and you taking that as 2 days 🤣🤣🤣. WOW FBB you are truly AMAZING. This video shows that if Santa does actually exist then it's FBB sleeping in -8 conditions in his new £99 tent 😀. FBB it is only 11th January but you 110% have my vote already for 2025 inspirational person of the year. xxx

Hi RootsLion, nice to meet you. Very wise words indeed. I actually had my second sleeping bag with me so if needed I would use that as another layer. Also doubled up on insulation mats underneath me to help reduce cold from beneath. I have heard before that you should air on side of caution with kit ratings, so nice to hear again from someone else, I will definitely take this into consideration. I have to say I may only be a small channel so far but the community of people that are gathering is just lovely, you all have such positivity. ❤ I am also in my 50's and your right it's not and never to late to get out. It does not have to be wild camping but just out making memories enjoying this precious time we have in this world. How is the van life going ? @@FatBoyBald-45 I'am loving van life been living in it full time since sept 2023, I took early retirment at 55, Converted to the carnivore diet, Sold the house and hit the road, It took 14 months to convert it and cost about £16,000 to convert but it does have all mod cons except air conditioning, Would advise you it is a lot of work if you want a proper job, But worth it. If you are doing the electrics yourself do as I did and watch Bejam van, I copied his eletric install as he is an electrician, He is happy to privide advice if you have issues, Also dont buy an absorption fridge as they are useless in hot weather get a compressor fridge, Hope you go for it and i might see you out and about someday soon. The business of researching for a tent was actually quite stressful for my partner and myself. And that was due to three factors . Weight was a big issue. So was cost. So were the reviews based on reviewer experience. Finally a personal gut "feeling" decided the issue. Honestly - I do NOT want to make such a decision again. We have never before made such a large financial investment (yes - our lives are small and constrained, Ha!) but we learnt a lot, enjoyed the risk-taking and I now have faith in our tent (Durston X-Mid 2 Solid). Woe betide Durston if it fails! Nah! Not gonna happen. So - good on you for your decision. Go Outdoors has been very useful to us as well. All the best, M.

Looks like some great adventures planned for 2025. The big debate regarding the tent 🤔 - I’m still using, repairing and re proofing my trusty Salwea Metolia 2 from 25 years ago. It’s home ⛺️. Cost a pretty penny at the time but still going. Nothing better than tent shopping 👍 well done on your walking challenge 🥾

Good morning matey, your new tent looks like the new one I just got, hoping really hoping my new one is 4 season at least waterproof cause holy moly cotton candy I don't want to wake up all wet again. I find the inner pockets would get wet in my last tent cause of the terrible condensation. The Scottish trip sounds amazing that's one place I really want to visit and the UK, Your bothies look awesome love the architecture of them our huts here will always have a fireplace, water and a outside loo. And plenty of firewood, Really looking forward to your adventures this year and also getting back out myself in the next couple of weeks.

Hello hello my friend and Hello Rose, Was awesome to see your wife out with you enjoying the beautiful scenery of Wales, I'm glad her knee and foot held up well, that tumble dance you had mate, was like when a truck blew me me over along a highway and I slipped into the ditch 😂 only difference unlike me who looked like a stranded turtle on his back you went forward. Hopefully you didn't hurt your knee or self on that fall. That was so many rocks up top isn't it amazing how landscapes can change so often from one place to another. The shot around 13:00 was absolutely stunning looking down to the town below. An that man doing a cold plunge must of read my mind lol walking upto it I was thinking I'd jump in that cold mountain water nec minute 😂. Much love to yas and thanks for showing me some of Wales. Wow - so happy the beautiful English Rose has made an appearance (my bestie) poor souls both with bad knees and still loving life (goal 3) - Cannot express how proud I am of you FBB - that fall 🤣🤣🤣imagine you having that fall on episode 1 you would have been 4 stone heavier. I feel so privileged to be able to be on this journey with you both - This episode has made me smile from start to finish - only 2 months in and you are nearly half way to your 9st goal in 12 months. Soo humble with it all but should be sooooooo proud of yourself. Keep up the good work for 2025 xx

Hi Ian, I hope you are doing well, Happy New Year. Yes it's funny, Rose mentioned about the gun shot while we were walking but I totally forgot when editing. For January I will be doing one video a week with the usual footage and one video a week on the Cancer Research challenge for 62 miles walking in January. Hope you enjoy, take care.
